I talk to myself...in my head. I don't say it out loud. Sometimes need to hear myself think.
Do you talk to yourself?
All the time. About almost anything.
I constantly surprise myself with how much of an eloquent motherfucker I can be. But it never translates into real social situations. Pretty funny how that happens.
Also, I might be a crazy person.
It never crosses my mind to express myself in any way outside of thinking when I'm alone. At one point when most of my friends where working or on vacation and parents where gone on a trip. I was silent for 4 days... It was actually pretty damn hard to speak again when people came back because the brain got used to the silence and forgot how to do it for a second. XD
So no, I don't speak to myself.
I do talk to myself sometimes especially during my days off of work or else I could end up not speaking to another person for two days (which is somewhat depressing and maddening)
Sure I do.
I've got to have -some- intelligent conversation, right?
/jk
Well played.
"Am I the only special snowflake who does X?"
No, 99% of the time you are not.
Pretty much this, even if you poop in the shower.
It's honestly hard to believe that in these internet days people still imagine they possess any unique idiosyncrasies at all. Don't mean that to be insulting in any way, it's just that I grew up in the early 80s, when isolation was still actually possible, and you'd see a doctor to ask if he'd ever heard of "is this weird?" (never mind the 100+ years before that, including insane asylums...)
And yes, all the damn time.
@brackynews: I didn't literally think I was the only one I was more proposing the question as trying to gauge how common it was.
@demoskinos: I'm not sure you appreciate what the term "literally" means, then. It means your actual words at face value. Another concept frequently distorted on the internet. If you didn't mean it, why choose it?
...throw this question out there to see if I'm the only...
So I just wanted to throw this question out there to see if I'm the only crazy motherfucker who does this.
For the love of....
There's 7 billion people in the world. Look at whatever is a densely populated area around you, and that's not even 1% of the entire world.
Going by that, I'm going to go out on the thinnest, weakest limb of logic and say no, you're not the only one who does this.
@brackynews: Either participate in the conversation or fuck off. I dont need people nitpicking my post apart on technicalities and derailing the thread.
I have a similar way of learning. I can learn better if I watch documentaries, than reading. I must hear those things otherwise, that silence gives a good opportunity for my sexual fantasies to kick out the educational things that should get in my mind. It happens very rare when I curse loud while playing games, but I end up making fun of me in my mind. I think that cursing alone it's almost the same thing as talking to yourself loud.
@likeassur: Honestly man I think you're taking that expression a little too seriously. Typically people preface things with "Am I the only one who..." not because they actually think they're the only ones in the entire universe to do that specific thing but to point out how strange or unusual that thing may be.
I mean I get it's a pet peeve and all but it's not worth devoting an entire post to address it
EDIT: Although to be fair OP does make a point that he thinks this is insanely strange and unique of him more than once.
I usually talk to myself in my head. When I do it out load it when I need to remind myself of something like how much food I need to restock my fridge.
I talk to myself a lot at home, but I do it around other people as well. My staff has learned to ignore me at work, but sometimes they say, "That was a nice little discussion you had with yourself."
Actually, I pretty much don't vocally talk at all as soon as I get home. My Wife's deaf so it's pretty much all sign language, I don't speak to myself or my dogs (usually), and I don't speak during playing a game, most of the time.
In fact, while I've been streaming games for friends in years, I only recently started using my mic when more people who I didn't know started watching the channel. So My house is pretty much quiet besides what's coming out of my speakers.
Non stop when I'm alone.
During a summer job where I had basically zero human contact for the whole summer I just talked to myself endlessly, narrated my life, talked out loud, randomly said things, etc. Starting think I had gone insane when I had two weeks left, but then I gave up that train of thought and drowned out my own voice with loud action movies.
And I talk to myself when I play video games, typically when my concentration breaks, I mess up or I'm psyching myself up for a boss or something.
It's normal. Although a few people I know think it's creepy...
