I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of or anything I just don't want people knowing my business, for me at least. Do you ever bring it up in conversation? Not just to promote GB . I wouldn't tell a girl I was interested in because I think it's best to keep some mystery,.. after time maybe. Or are you just a badass that doesn't give a damn about what people know about you? If so I greatly envy you and I'm trying to get into that state of mind. This is starting to be a mindless ramble so yea.....?

EDIT: I don't mean random people, I mean people you talk to on a daily basis. Like if you're in a chat and someone asked what you are up to. Honestly I'd be more likely to tell people about my porn habit than my gaming forum habit. Basically because I don't want people taking my post out of context.

I don't just go around telling everyone everything I do online but I wouldn't be ashamed about it if I were to be asked.

#3 Posted by Milkman (14004 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I'm not sure why I would ever have to tell anyone that.

#4 Posted by iam3green (14380 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

no, i don't tell people that i do that. i just tell people that i like video games a lot.

#5 Posted by Intro (1035 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I don't bring it up in average conversations, but I tell my friends who I play 360 with.

The worst that can happen is you get made fun of and if you're mature enough, you don't give a shit. I have thousands of post on other forums.

#6 Posted by jkuc316 (981 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Not to everyone, but at least to my friends

#7 Posted by Vextroid (1073 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Only to my gaming friends.

#8 Posted by PillClinton (2904 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Yep, I go up to hot chicks and tell 'em to go on the Giant Bomb forums and join in on the discussions.

#9 Posted by HatKing (4410 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I might mention an "online forum" or something to most of my friends.  It's not that I'm hiding it though--my girlfriend is watching me type this. hah...

#10 Posted by LiquidPrince (14667 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Not unless they ask if I do.

#11 Posted by Claude (15850 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I tell everyone I know about Giant Bomb. I even posted shit on facebook about Giant Bomb.

#12 Posted by Soapy86 (2425 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I don't throw it around or anything, but if someone asks or if someone "catches" me, I'm not embarrassed by it.

#13 Posted by probablytuna (2521 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Only in relevant conversations.

#14 Posted by Tim_the_Corsair (3065 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I'll talk about the Whiskey sites if they come up organically in a conversation, but I don't feel the need to say 'fuck I love me some GB' randomly to people.

This.
#16 Posted by pantzing_nome (546 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

It's never come up in conversations so I haven't said anything.

I have a yellow T-shirt that say "I love video game forums", written in bright pink. I wear it all the time... And I mean ALL the time, I never take it off, it's quite disgusting actually.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone really, while it is fun it has some downsides when it comes to simply enjoy games.
If they want to join a forum they will find one.

#21 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I know three people who post on this site and none of them know I am me. In fact, I was once told i should post on here because I'd really get on well with that HandsomeDead chick.

#22 Posted by TheGreatGuero (9067 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Are you suggesting that I have contact with people outside of this forum? Ha. You're crazy!

#23 Posted by BraveToaster (12588 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

No, it was Red.
#27 Posted by PhatSeeJay (3311 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I walk around wearing a shirt with "I'm a Game Maker" written on the front (My education was named Game Maker). I have no shame.

#28 Posted by guiseppe (2712 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

If it has something to do with what I'm about to say, sure. But I don't go around saying "hey, did you know I hang out on video game forums?!".

#29 Posted by ShockD (2189 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Yeah, if they seem to care.

#30 Posted by Vexxan (4553 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

This. It's not how I would start a conversation.
#32 Posted by ZeForgotten (9512 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I do yeah.
I sometimes start conversations with: "I was browings Giantbomb the other day and saw...."

Don't see why anyone would be ashamed of that. Unless they're just fake when it comes to how they act towards their friends

#33 Posted by PenguinDust (12103 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Yes, but I don't tell them which one.  Since no one I know is an avid gamer, I don't want them reading all the silly stuff I post out of context.  I wouldn't mind telling another gamer if I knew one.  This is why I play mostly single-player games.

#34 Posted by MideonNViscera (1796 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I don't really travel in circles where internet browsing is a topic of conversation.

#35 Posted by Twisted_Scot (1148 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Why yes it's the title of my up-coming novel "Hey everyone, I post on the Giantbomb forums" by Twisted Scot  w/ Foreword by Gary Busey.

But if someone asks what sites I post on I'll tell them, don't see the issue.

#36 Edited by SMTDante89 (2164 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Only to my close gamer friends.  They can usually understand what I'm talking about and sometimes even understand.

#37 Posted by IchiroYagiza (442 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

Only if they ask, otherwise...no.
#38 Posted by MattBosten (496 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I'll talk about it if it comes up. It rarely comes up and usually there is something that'll trigger the conversation; for example, a couple of weeks back I was wearing the 'Lincoln Force' shirt and a friend asked what it was about.

#39 Posted by Nux (1992 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I've told my friends about Giantbomb.
#40 Posted by xpxTomxqx (138 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

A few people know I do, like my gaming friends and my girlfriend who has no interest in gaming whatsoever (apart from MK:DS)

#41 Posted by EpicSteve (6125 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

No one I'm friends with know what a forum is.

#42 Posted by Yummylee (18156 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

It's my way of greeting people.

#43 Posted by Bucketdeth (7938 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

My friends know I do, not ashamed of something I enjoy.

#45 Posted by Canberra (1065 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I'm never really here so no.

#46 Edited by FesteringNeon (2101 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

I know the exact same feeling, it's like I'm a closet nerd and I give a damn about people who were in high school with me (small town)... Honestly though, who gives a fuck? (I guess I do : / ) I feel kinda old to be this into games at my age (28), and anything game related on my Facebook page. Tis why  I keep all gaming conversations here, but it doesn't really take a whole lot of mystery solving if someone wants to look into it.

But, no I don't tell people beyond my closest friends... I think i'd get paranoid they're following my posts here or something, and I'm pretty sure they have anything better to do than actually doing that.

EDIT: Oh and I noticed I mention my age, post pictures of myself etc maybe to minimize the creep factor quite a bit? Somehow it makes me feel better about being on a site accessed by kids and adults, who I am and what I look like.. maybe to justify this as closer to normal?

#47 Posted by Crixaliz (777 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

No, since I don't know anyone that actually plays video games (some play CoD and only CoD so that doesn't really count)

#48 Posted by c1337us (5751 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

If it comes up for some reason I will say so. But I do not go around wearing a t-shirt that says I hang out on video game forums or anything it's hardly an interesting topic of conversation. Also I have been barely coming onto the forums for a long time anyway so it's not all that accurate.

#49 Posted by crusader8463 (13079 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

No I don't just randomly walk up to people and tell them I post on a gaming forum. It has never come up in conversation ether, so no one knows I do it, but it's not out of some dark secret shame of it. If anyone asked I would tell them I posted here and I wouldn't care what they thought. Someone that would get worked up over something as dumb as that isn't someone I would want to be around anyway, so it would just be a good way to weed out the dumb people.

#50 Edited by Zapbrader (166 posts) - 1 year, 11 months ago

In my perspective, telling someone that I go on forums is like telling someone that I listen to Rock music. Do people spend copious amounts of time on forums that it becomes something that you can confess to other people?
