I took a shit in the woods once.

#102 Edited by Ragdrazi (2283 posts) -

Back in the day, before the Internet, sneaking a peek at a woman's body was a lot more complicated and involved process. Your mother was always on the look out for anything incriminating. So you might be able to sneak into your dad's collection, if he had one, but then you'd have to remember how the items were placed and put them back in convincing enough order that he wouldn't notice. If you did manage to get your hands on something (generally this was from a friend with a fucked up home life) keeping it in your room was often impossible. So there was always hiding it in the woods. No one but you knew where it was, and you had the option of ether... looking... at it there, or trying to sneak it into the house for the day.

Really, in a strange way... the difficulty of it all kind of taught you to appreciate women... Don't laugh. You knew you wanted them so much. But you had to do so much work to see. It showed you that you were willing to put in a huge amount of effort. Now that you can just pull of the internet I feel like images of women are somehow... cheaper and the attitudes towards women have sort of matched up to that.

That was the creepiest thing I've read in a while.

i found some in the stormwater drains but i didn't touch them.

I grew up in Alice Springs after all

I lived in a house that was located in the middle of a huge wooded area. Never found porn there, but did find a lot of unopened beer cans and liquor bottles. Luckily, I had internet then so the "porn in the woods" experience never happened.

Porn in the woods is a strange pre-internet phenomena which I too was privy too.

I wonder why the X-Files never made an episode of it

The cabin of my grandparents is surrounded by woods. Oddly enough, though, I found the porno mags in a drawer next to a spare bed on the top floor.

Ok, it seems like everyone has found porn in the woods, so with this being such a common occurrence, it only stands to reason that there are a lot of people leaving porn in the woods, right? So how many of you have done that?

Back in 1997 I left a copy of Playboy with Donna D'errico that I'd brought on a school camping trip in the woods cause it got water damaged

Bears like masturbation as much as humans. Of course, nobody wants to fuck a bear, so that's why you don't see any bear porn magazines.

In case someone didn't already mention there's plenty bear porn magazines.. it's just an aqcuired taste, yes, let's call it that!

Herpaduerp a ha ha. I just took my dog outside and near the woodsy part near the dumpsters there was a ripped out picture of a naked lady with all of it hanging out.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was from the 70's.

I found porn in the wooded area of a park as a kid. That was cool.

Not only in woods, i actually have a porn farm. Just put those seeds in, wait a while, and then enjoy big titties.

I got an urge to get my hands on a Drill Bucket.

If you live in the suburbs, what better place to hide your porn stuff than the woods? Also, what better place to jerk off absolutely free of all worldly thoughts? It's almost meditative.

#124 Posted by SgtGrumbles (1024 posts) -

I too have found waterlogged porn in the woods, wonderful memories of a by-gone age…

#125 Posted by waitwhat (251 posts) -

instinctively, when i was little, i knew that if i wanted porn all i had to do was go looking for it in the woods (before it became so easily available through the internet).

#126 Edited by Apparatus_Unearth (3190 posts) -

I used to hang out in the woods and read Playboy or whatever. It's the sort of thing kids do when they go to the woods, they're secluded from their parents and can do what they want. I mean, look at where 3 guys, 1 hammer took place.

Edit: Not that I'm some crazy murderer. I'm just saying the woods is a good place to do something without other people knowing what you're doing.

It has been over a year since I started this topic and guys over at tested.com just spent a bunch of time talking about this phenomen in their crazy oktobercast. I highly recommend listening to the whole thing.

#128 Posted by habster3 (3600 posts) -

People have a tendency towards the indecent, the immoral, or the frowned upon when they're in secluded, quiet areas. I think that explanation might solve your mystery.

Resurrected.

I'll put here the same image I used at RoosterTeeth.com when the same question came up:

I think its just a part of growing up without the internet. I mean I'd be a good number of people in their late 20's like myself can admit to watching scrambled tv porn channels because if you watched juuuuust long enough you might catch a half a second glimpse at a nipple.

#132 Posted by Marz (5658 posts) -

Back when i was growing up, me and my cousin's found some porn mags in an abandoned lot... not quite a forest but pretty far away from any habitable houses.... but yeah i guess it's part of that time frame without the internet.

#133 Posted by downtime58 (224 posts) -

That's so funny - the first time I came across porn when I was a kid was a bunch of torn up pages in the ravine behind my house. I know my friend scored some magazines and he kept them in a garbage bag in the forest back there - so yeah, pretty common pre-internet rite of passage.

#134 Posted by InternetCrab (1504 posts) -

Not in the woods, but I did find porn in a scrapyard, pretty close to a youth center.

#135 Posted by Milkman (17001 posts) -

I have never found porn in the woods or any public place for that matter. So, I guess I'm the weird one.

#136 Posted by falling_fast (2243 posts) -

it must have been really weird back...whenever this sort of thing happened :/

#137 Posted by Dunchad (501 posts) -

Nothing weird about it. If you found magazines anywhere, best place to read them with your friends was the woods. And you couldn't take them home with you, so you left them there. There they await for their next reader, until the ground claims them and they are replaced by new material.

That is, until the internet came along and ruined this age-old tradition of forest porn.

Although...they still sell porn mags at stores, so I guess someone is still buying. And if there are magazines in circulation, surely some percentage of those have to end up in the forests. If I hadn't developed a debilitating fear of bears in my adult age, I might be tempted to go out and look for the mythical forest porn even now.

I remember vividly walking down a trail in the woods near my neighborhood with a couple of friends. We were heading to a convenience store that was on the other side of the trail. About mid-way on this trail, we came across this pretty beat-up box that was almost the size of microwave box. With closer inspection, inside this box was filled to the brim of Hardcore porn magazines and posters, we at an age of only 13 was fucking excited/weird'd out. But as we went closer to check it out we neglected in see the dirty hobo that was sleeping next to the box. The hobo wakes up with a dazed mumble and said something in the lines of "Waazzz'at?", we all looked at each other and then at the hobo and ran the Fuck out of there in fear of getting raped... So ya, Porn in the woods.

#142 Posted by supermonkey122 (835 posts) -

Well my friend lived in front of an abandoned house, and the one time we went in there, we found Playboys. So yeah, I guess.

#143 Posted by Zomgfruitbunnies (844 posts) -

I don't understand this thread at all.

#144 Posted by dogman795 (109 posts) -

@Zomgfruitbunnies: On the bombast about 2 years ago, the guys talked about how they used to find used pom magazines hidden in the woods near their houses. As this was before the inter brought pornography to your screen at the click of a button, this was how many youths from the 70's and 80's saw their first porn.

Also nowadays, what with media the way it is, children don't go exploring the woods much anymore, leading to less hidden-secret-underground-tree-porn being found or stashed on a whole.

#145 Posted by csl316 (8938 posts) -

If a porn falls in the forest, will you make a sound?

#146 Posted by Levio (1784 posts) -

sTrange things happen in the woods. Because where else would people do strange things, their living room?

#147 Edited by MOAB (410 posts) -

my cousin and i found a cardboard box full of porn mags in a dumpster. i'm not sure there is anything more awesome to find when you're 10. my parents found them a few days later, so it was short-lived. i did manage to hide a couple in a bean bag before they were tossed. :D

#148 Posted by Duecenage (215 posts) -

There was porn in the bush, by the railroad tracks and also stuffed in this hole in the wall of someone's old shack. It was a sort of coming of age. Then my hometown expanded its cable package I was introduced to the Showcase Revue(This one's for the Canadians, who remembers that?) For me growing up, there is only one movie by the name of Crash.

TV1000, Europeans know what it is, and what it becomes after midnight.

#150 Posted by Scrawnto (2455 posts) -

The first and I think only time I saw a porn magazine, I was around four or five years old, and I had no idea what I was even looking at. The pictures literally didn't make sense to me, so I have only the faintest memory of the experience. Also it might have been a catalog? There were a lot of numbers in it, which seems odd in retrospect. I was probably four, since I don't think I could read at the time.

By the time I wanted to look at porn, the internet made it really easy to find, even if the photos were all 640x480 and the video clips were even smaller.

Speaking of which, the first porn website I ever came across was called SNES.com . I just typed that into the address bar, since N64.com was a real website about games. I was actually disappointed that SNES.com was not about games.
