I sort of liked the first one better too. It was pitch black, and it made him look bigger. Batman's biggest weapon is fear. The older suit made him seem like this huge imposing shadow that descends from the darkness and kicks the shit out of you. The newer suit makes him look like some kind of cybernetic war machine.

Exactly. The old one looks more like a one piece suit, bigger and stronger with heavy materials, where the new one looks more like armored pieces and cups, mainly cloth stuff...
But I don't think you notice it in the movie much because its never shining light on Batman, so you don't see all the details.

I'd like the new suit much more if it was all black, like it's supposed to be. As it is now though... well let's just say I hope they "improve" it again in the next movie.
