So, I was never really into dubstep till the other night. I thought the dancing was crazy (in a good way) but the music was halfass until my friend showed me a video the other night. The music was ok but the guy dancing made the song. Since then I cant find many other good songs but at least I know there are not all crap. And to not get all that Youtube spam shit, im only linking the URL and not the video. This guy deserves an award for best dancer Ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXO-jKksQkM

What are your thoughts on this new genre and why do you like or dislike it?

I fucking love Katy B, but she's not hardcore dubstep.
That's about it.

I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.

Unless I am flying through the air and ricocheting off walls while doing a barrel roll with neon tracers firing out of my tail-lights, I have no use or love for dubstep. However, under those specific circumstances it is the greatest thing yet created by man.

that sounds like a damn fun time.

is my first thought when you say "dubstep."

It can fall anywhere between dumb fun and the worst thing ever.

This is a good example of the latter:

good club or party music but I don't think anyone but crazy people actually sit down and listen to it.

@EuanDewar: I can't believe that's an official video, it's not even on par with a lot of youtube typography videos. It's so lazy.

#13 Posted by louiedog (2335 posts) -

I think it works to accompany the right game or scene in a video, but I'm not a fan overall. I'd never sit down and listen to it while in the car or browsing the web.

I like dubstep, though I have to be in the mood for it.

#15 Posted by AlexW00d (6186 posts) -

Dub is ok, dubstep though is fucking awful. Although Burial were listenable, the shit people like nowadays is awful.

I fing love Dubstep!, you can put Dubstep on any song and it automatically makes it awesome.

#17 Posted by Mr_Skeleton (5137 posts) -

It's silly but I don't mind it once in a while.

#18 Posted by allworkandlowpay (874 posts) -

Sounds okay I suppose.

I'd listen to dubstep all day over most of the pop songs on the radio currently though. (Granted, I NEVER listened to pop anyways, but it seems to be getting dumber as of lately.)

The only appropriate time I can tolerate Dubstep is when I'm in a car with friends, or I'm playing on the Giantbomb TrackMania 2 server.

That said, I cringe when I hear it in trailers and everywhere else. The first time hearing it was pretty nifty. But now it all sounds the same. Such an uninspired genre...

Kill it with fire!

#21 Posted by BulletproofMonk (2718 posts) -

I like some of it.

#22 Posted by CSXLoser (582 posts) -

i find that the slower the song is, the better or if the song sounds like a mix of dubstep and electro house.

The only two dubstep tracks i like currently are Strange Behaviour by Feed Me and New World by Mord Fustang.

Internet is too slow for me to find youtube links :P

I like the song from the syndicate trailer

#25 Posted by natetodamax (19171 posts) -

I like some of it. I don't really like Skrillex since almost everything by him sounds like a garbage disposal.

#26 Posted by Noccee (57 posts) -

Not really into it from start. But after hearing the Bare remix of the Asking Alexandria song that was featured in the Supremacy MMA trailer, it got me searching for more. Quite hard to find more of that "heavy" remixes, but everything else I found, I started to really enjoy.

Always hated dub-step along with garage since it started here in the 90s. Its sad that so much US music recently has been corrupted by it

#29 Edited by SMTDante89 (2545 posts) -

I like what I've heard. That's about all I can say about it.

#30 Posted by StaticFalconar (4849 posts) -

Dubstep is really cool for trailers and synchronized dancing. But if you kill the seeing element and just bring me Woh, Wooah, Woah Woah, WAH, Sounds, I'll probably hate it.

#31 Posted by KillyDarko (1888 posts) -

It's fucking terrible.

#32 Posted by ABritishNerd (318 posts) -

@McShank: I've not heard much Dupstep but what I've heard, I like. Nero is a particular favourite of mine.

#33 Posted by Hotcakesman (40 posts) -

Dubstep is terrible music..

Never really liked dubstep. I don't actively hate it but I could care less about it.

#41 Posted by Rudeboy217 (1766 posts) -

I don't.

#42 Posted by 71Ranchero (2675 posts) -

I think its kind of fruity. No thanks, I will pass on dubstep.

#43 Posted by Everyones_A_Critic (6287 posts) -

Too many remixes and re-releases and DJ's to keep track of.

#44 Posted by SirPsychoSexy (1328 posts) -

Some of it is mediocre, most of it is horse shit

#45 Edited by Hitchenson (4682 posts) -

On K it's wonderful, not it's one of the worst sounds ever.

Chart "dubstep" somehow manages to be even worse.

As Jeff put it in the Trackmania TNT, It sounds like kids in Florida doing drugs that are so new they don't even have names yet.
