They just decided one day to lock my account. I can't get back in. They want me to send them a picture of some sort of I.D. The thing is I don't have anything they have listed. I also don't feel comfortable sending a picture of my social security card. They won't let me in at all. I tried changing my password several times and they still refuse to let me in.

Also the reason I don't have any sort of government Id is because I'm in high school and I was going to get my driver license later.

They want your ID and social security card? That doesn't sound very legitimate. Actually, I believe it's illegal for a business to ask for your social security card unless it's for a job or something like that. If it isn't illegal, it's at least very frowned upon. Don't give up your social security number.

It really is for the best. But if you want your account back, just sign up for a new one? As stated, the social security card thing is hella illegal. Don't be surprised if your shit got hacked, or something.

I guess you got hacked or something? That's pretty shitty. Don't send them your social security card. Also, try logging in from a different browser/computer, maybe it's some kind of elaborate phishing scheme (unlikely, but worth a shot).

If this account reflects your real name and personal information, please help us verify it

Sounds like you have something silly as your name, if its not SexyToad it must be something else. This coupled with them asking for your ID card is them trying to prove your real name, you're own fault really for putting a silly name up. I never really got why people did that.

Yeah, Bioware does that too for SWTOR (Ask for proof of who you are)
Bunch of MMO devs do that actually, Blizzard does it too.

But hey, shit happens!
If you can't do what they ask then I guess just make another Facebook account or don't make a new one at all and find a new site like it.
I hear MySpace is a hit! :P

@haffy: Poker is about gambling and possibly winning money so it makes sense to require ID in some cases. Facebook is just a free social networking website.

If your worried about phishing you should call facebook directly. But if you would rather facebook sell your Social Security number to the highest bidder rather then a poor thug selling it. Then I implore you to keep feeding them information.

Your name doesn't happen to be Farty McRaperpants? Man, hell of a party we threw last week in that case. And would also explain why Facebook doubt it's your real name.

lol poker company's do not give a shit about your age until you withdraw money. I've just had to verify my account a few times because I used to transfer money between sites with my friend and people on twoplustwo forums.

Hmm, yeah it's understandable for poker sites. But Facebook is a pretty big deal now. Identity/information theft is a pretty common now.

Social Security cards are not a form of ID and it is indeed illegal to ask for it as a form of ID. I doubt a company like facebook wouldn't be aware of this, so I'm sure the OP misread or didn't understand what they wanted.

Also, high schooler without an ID? Doesn't it only cost 20 bucks? I hope you never have some emergency where you have to get to another city fast (flying)

You didn't start any second amendment threads did you? Just kidding.

I'm not a huge fan of FB either. It has just become the place my ex-girlfriends and old high school acquaintances go to brag/bitch about the least important things in the universe. Which is the opposite here at Giant Bomb...right guys? So screw them and hang wit us.

The thing with a birth certificate is that if I was to choose that I will also have to send them another form of "secondary id" which would be social security crd, passport, and school I'd which I had but threw away since I was going to get another one soon. Anyways I'm just going to spend my time here.

You can usually use lots of things as a secondary ID. If you have a work ID, tax form, school grades transcript, or even something like a library card, that would probably work.

But if you want to just spend time here instead, then that's cool, too. Just make sure not to spend too much time here. Trust me on this one.
