So guess what? I trailer just came out for ''The Social Network'' which is essentially, Facebook: The Movie.

I mean, what the fuck is this? a movie about a social networking site?

What do you guys think about this, will you see it?

I believe it is supposed to be based on the true story of how Facebook was created. I could be totally wrong about that, but it seems like it could be alright, although probably not my cup of tea.

Trailer looks dumb, very dumb.

That's all I've got to say.

#5 Posted by KillaMaStA (859 posts) -

It sounded like some good political drama when I saw a trailer once, the part about it being about facebook makes me not want to see it but I dont know. Its not about farmville or idiots on facebook so its not that stupid.

Directed by David Fincher. Nuff said.

#7 Posted by Bruce (5264 posts) -

It looks bland and the dialogue seems way too jittery and fast. But then again, when you consider the type of people it's depicting. . .

#8 Posted by LordXavierBritish (6320 posts) -

I saw this trailer quite awhile ago.

I totally feel bad for millionaires.

You're just hearing about this now? There's been trailers out there for weeks, if not months.

It's about the story behind the creation of Facebook and the legal problems it went through (and is still going through). It's actually a pretty interesting story, which is probably why they made a movie out of it.

There's also a movie called The Middle Men, which I suppose you would say is essentially, Internet Porn: The Movie. Or Pirates of Silicon Valley, or Microsoft and Apple: The Movie.

Companies often have interesting histories and sometimes they make movies out of them. What's the big deal?

The trailer seems good, so if the movie follows in suit then maybe.

#11 Posted by Potter9156 (943 posts) -

There is no god.

Sadly, millions of tweens will ensure this movie is a success.

#12 Posted by RaceKickfist (218 posts) -

are there any facebook groups against this? would that be irony?

#13 Posted by NekuSakuraba (7241 posts) -
@JokerSmilez: Well, trailers just posted the trailer now so I thought it was new.

Sorry :(

How dramatic! :o

You are absolutely right, there is no god if idiots are allowed to make statements like that. I'm almost 100% positive that the director of Fight Club is not making a tween movie.

Yeah I probably will, I'm not exactly stuck up enough to pass over a decent movie simply because I'm some anti facebook prick.  It's not about facebook, it's about the creation of facebook (which if you aren't in denial, you realize it's a pretty big fucking thing) and the ongoing controversy and legal battles surrounding it.  It's a story that is perfect for the big screen.

I've known about this for ages. Doesn't look terrible though.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as a dick (which I guess I did). But, you should check out Screened.com. They posted the trailer back on July 16th.

Yeah, this isn't some dumb teen movie for people who are addicted of Facebook. It's a drama about the early days of Facebook, based on the book The Accidental Billionaires.

To answer your question, I'm going to see it.

Yeah, I guess I should go to screened more though.

Maybe it isn't that bad? it just turns me off that a bunch of tweens are going to see it and think it is the best movie ever and think it is all about the webstie etc.
#20 Posted by Feser (543 posts) -
@NekuSakuraba:
It will probably be rated R with all of Zuckerburg's sexual issues, so don't worry.

I think any tweens that go and see it will be very disappointed.

Also, maybe it's because I'm too old (26), but do "tweens" really view Facebook as the website equivalent of Justin Beiber and will go see a movie because they hear it's about Facebook?

Yes, they are obsessed with Facebook.

Also, Justin Beiber: The Movie 3D is going to have to contend with the Facebook movie, who will win? xD.

@Feser:

You're reading my post far too literally. And Fincher has directed and produced some crap.

After re-watching the trailer, it looks all right.

I don't think people are that dense to not realize that this isn't just about Facebook, but about the founding of it. After watching this trailer, I believe anyone would realize that and not want to see it if they aren't interested. I actually read the book the movie is based on and it's really good. I'll be seeing the movie when it comes out as well and I highly doubt I'll see a bunch of 13 - 17 year olds there.

@Potter9156:
How else am I supposed to read a post from someone that I never heard of before?
#28 Posted by BeepBeepBoop (95 posts) -

I think this movie will actually be good.

Also check out who is directing this, David Fincher, ie the director of Fight Club, Se7ven, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

So personally I think it's in good hands.

#29 Posted by infamous021 (122 posts) -

David Fincher is directing it so I have faith it'll be good.

#30 Posted by Travis (212 posts) -

I liked the music

#31 Posted by CookieMonster (2426 posts) -

I was initially turned off by the idea of a 'facebook movie', but after watching the trailer, it does seem quite interesting. I'll just wait until its on tv.

#32 Posted by Vonocourt (2145 posts) -

Looks pretty melodramatic, I don't know. I'll see it just because of David Fincher, even if I did get burned with Benjamin Button.

#33 Posted by Heartagram (1182 posts) -

I like movies about how someone created some sort of program or technology. Even though it was pretty low budget Pirates of Silicon Valley is a pretty great movie. This could be interesting in the same way.

no thx

So moot plays Zuckerburg?

#36 Posted by sodiumCyclops (2644 posts) -

Have read many good things about this film. It's very dark.

The coolest thing is Trent Reznor worked on the soundtrack.

#37 Posted by iam3green (14390 posts) -

aww, i looked at the description and saw jesse. i thought this was going to be a funny movie... i saw the trailer thought it was bad.

#38 Posted by Glak (613 posts) -

I think it'll be decent

#39 Posted by guiseppe (2842 posts) -

Could be interesting.

#40 Posted by DillonWerner (1528 posts) -

I can't stand that actor.

#41 Posted by Meteora (5787 posts) -

I honestly doubt many Facebook addicts will be watching this. I thin of this as more of a documentary film of the early history of Facebook and how it got started.

#42 Posted by Green_Incarnate (1789 posts) -

I can't roll my eyes any harder.

#43 Posted by Bones8677 (3267 posts) -

I have a sneaking feeling that this movie will achieve "21" levels of inaccuracies. As in, offensively inaccurate. I wouldn't be surprised if the REAL story was nowhere in the same galaxy as this movie.

#44 Posted by BraveToaster (12588 posts) -

I might see it... whenever Netflix gets it.

#45 Posted by TheBeaneMachine (34 posts) -

It seems... pretentious

#47 Posted by AjayRaz (12444 posts) -

at least billy mitchell isn't in it

#48 Posted by Brendan (7847 posts) -

It pains me that people actually think this is a dumb tween movie for Facebook.  Just watch the trailer, why don't you?  That being said, it looks like it'll be a fairly interesting version of "The Accidental Billionaires" which was a sweet book.
