It is not possible to dislike Chinese food. Trust me. So when you order, what do you get? I'm quite partial to beef on a stick (I'm positive it has an actual name but it escapes me right now) and chicken tenders. Yeah, I'm boring when it comes to food, but I eat what I like. What about you?

Honey chicken and shanghai noodles!

Chicken Balls & Curry. Yum.

Anything with Beef and curry sauce. Or Duck Ko Pung i think it's called?

White rice, kind of the only chinese food I like. Not big into trying new things, I usually have non-chinese food when I order...chinese food.

#8 Posted by JCGamer (546 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago

I love mongolian beef and pepper steak.  My real favorite Chinese food is Korean-Chinese food though.  Chachang myung (noodles with some veggies, and a soy bean paste--oh, all these spellings are approximate), champoigee (spicy/sweet chicken) and mapo tofu (spicy tofu with pork).

Shrimp and Broccoli, Crab Rangoon, House Lo Mein

Just for the record, the "Chinese food" you order in the US is rarely actual Chinese food.  That goes for most buffets, take-out places, what have you.

Shhhhh, don't break the illusion.

That would be like telling people in the UK that most of their Indian takeout food was invented by an Englishman... Oops.

Chinese food restaurants arent as popular here in Israel.. so the only "chinese food" i ever had was my mom's meal: she cooks rice with weird spicy vegetables and it tastes good.

I don't know the name, but it's the fried dough ball with meat in the middle of it.  That thing's delicious.

Dude I love so much Chinese food...  Egg rolls, General Tso's Chicken, Sweet 'n' Sour Chicken, Fried rice... Just everything.

#16 Edited by NickLott (775 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago

I order an orange chicken from a local place that instead of making these overly battered, sauced and fried chicken paste nuggets that most places have, they take two tenderized chicken cutlets and bread and lightly fry them whole before slicing them for the plate which they accompany with a nice orange sauce on the side (same process for sweet and sour chicken). I usually order that with some crab rangoon or egg drop soup.

Dumplings. Sheesh.

General Tso's chicken and Crab Rangoon, but the Chinese would scoff at me since it's all Americanized and shit.

#19 Posted by Skytylz (3803 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago

Pretty much any of the chicken.

Pork buns are steamed, not fried.

There is one flavor of Chinese food I've never tried, and that is the girl behind the counter.  God, she is so cute.

I don't think so. Maybe dim sum? "
Dim Sum is a whole cuisine, not one food item. It includes a whole bunch of shit in a traditional meal. :)

Dumplings :P
#24 Posted by Brunchies (2484 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago

Dim sum if that counts and any thing chicken or seafood related.

#25 Posted by jb335 (58 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago

General Tso's for sure. We have a beef/scallion/cabbage stir fry type thing that isn't bad either. Chinese food is one of those things were you can always order the same thing and not get sick of it cause you don't eat it much. If I had to eat General Tso's more than once or twice a month, I'd die.

#26 Posted by The_A_Drain (3910 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago
@Roflwaffles: Actually, apparently there is a type of dumpling in America called "Dim Sum Dumpling" so yeah, both right I guess :P

Chicken and rice generally.

If I'm at P.F. Chang's: Black Bean Chicken... and rice. That stuff is awesome. OH yeah and the fried banana's for dessert.

I <3 P.F. Chang's

#28 Posted by eroticfishcake (7745 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago
@Roflwaffles:  Just looked it up. My bad. Turns out you can fry prok buns which is unusual since everytime I got to Hong Kong I've never seen such a thing. Must be a China thing instead.

Dude's, is it just me or is Chinese takeaway rice (specifically, like special fried rice, or any leftover dish mixed in with rice) the best fucking morning-after thing EVER with the exception of cold pizza.

shanghai noodles.. mmmmmm

After a hard night's worth of drink and waking up (still unable to find your elbow) then yeah it's fantastic. Tastes better with a curry too.

Ginger Beef, but the version is local to Calgary and is now in a few other places in Alberta.

Its fucking delicious and a major factor preventing me from moving away.

Also: Pork Buns are the cats pajamas.

Fuckin' LOVE Chinese food. I don't go to buffets as much as I used to now, but I still do once or twice a month.

Crab rangoons, vegetable lo mein, pork egg rolls, pot stickers, mongolian beef, General Tso's chicken, and "rat on a stick" are all of my favorites. There's also a takeout place near my house that has THE best fried rice I've ever had. Anywhere else I've eaten from does not even begin to compare.

I do not like Chinese food.

The only thing I like are those warm sugar doughnuts.

I'm not fond of Chinese food; particularly due to the fact that I eat it everyday.

My favorite is Beef Chow Fun. With some of this:

Actual Chinese cuisine. This includes dim sum.

If you also didn't notice, I'm ethically Chinese, so I'm forced to eat this out on family meetings.

I much, MUCH prefer western food. Its a change of taste, you know?

I can't get enough chow fun. My favorite, though, is Thai food. You got your Pad Kee Mao, Pad See Ew, Tom Kah Gai, mmm. And oh yeah, Sri Racha is great@lead_farmer said:

In terms of region, New York Chinese is godly. I'm boring though so I get the usual pork fried rice with fried chicken wings. The most I deviate from this is General Tsao Chicken.

#43 Posted by TheBalticOne (64 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago

Chicken Chow Mein
God dammit. I am so hungry now.

#44 Posted by eroticfishcake (7745 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago
@Meteora: Right, right. I get what ya mean since I'm ethnically Chinese as well. I don't mind Chinese food but rice get's a little dull after ten years or so. I can't cook Chinese food very well but I can cook almost any Western dishes, much to the dismay of my parents amusingly enough.
#45 Posted by Sanryd (1354 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago

The perfect dish (so far): Lo Mein (just noodles, no vege's whatsoever), with white rice layered on top, and sweet and sour sauce drizzled (generously) all over it.

There is a dish at my local Chinese place called Dragon and Phoenix, which is half garlic fried shrimp and half General Tso's.

#47 Edited by Jasonofindy (258 posts) - 3 years, 14 days ago
@birdflu777: One of my local places also has a dish called the Dragon & the Phoenix.  Like yours the one I've had is half General Tso's and half Hot & Spicy shrimp.  However, the Hot & Spicy shrimp dish sounds considerably different than the "garlic fried shrimp" that is in yours.  It is several large steamed shrimp in a sauce that kind of reminds me of chunky orange marmalade that has been cooked and caramelized a bit with lots of dry red peppers and garlic slices.   It is quite tasty, but if I'm in the mood for the shrimp, I prefer to order it alone as I don't care for their take on General Tso's.

My actual favorite "chinese" dish is from another local place.  They call it simply "Shrimp & snow peas" but it is a mixture of shrimp and crab meat in a garlic butter sauce with corn, carrots, and whole pea pods.  The amount of crab each day varies from day to day so my guess is that the crab is the leftover crab meat from crab legs steamed but unordered the previous night.

Crab Rangoon, General Tso's Chicken, Beef n Broccoli....so good.

Chowmein and the red flavoured meat are amazing.
