First album I ever bought was Oasis - Definitely Maybe, I still listen to it a lot to this day.  The first album I ever owned was a cassette of Jason Donavon, my mum was trying to corrupt me at an early age :-)

I think the first I ever physically bought for myself was Blink 182's "Enema of the State". I loved it at the time. And still enjoy some of the songs, I guess.

The Soundtrack to 2001:  A Space Odyssey. It was vinyl of course. I cried when I first heard it. I thought it was the biggest mistake in my life. Money not well spent. I was eleven years old and stupid. Now I love it.

Will Smith's "Big Willie Style". Loved it. Still love it kind of.

Green Jello's Cereal Killer (before the renaming) was the first album I asked for and got after renting the video version first.

Morbid Angel's Formulas Fatal to the Flesh was the first I bought by myself. I almost bought Death instead. Made the wrong choice.

I would prefer not to say, though I'm sure it was probably some awful pop music from the mid-90s.

If it's any consolation.... since my Dad already had that one, my first was a Jermaine Jackson vinyl.  Though I'll be damned if I can recall what it was.

Would have been a different story if I hadn't spent a couple of years shaping my tastes through "illegitimate" means. Got to get that Linkin Park out of your system early.

I had a bunch of vinyl records when I was a kid, but the first album I bought with my own money was Pearl Jam "Ten".  Now that I think about it, I was ten years old at the time.  Weird.

Bought it on my 10th birthday. I had gotten a CD player and at the time I wanted to see the movie so bad that I bought the soundtrack. This was back in 1999 sometime.

Oasis - What's The Story (Morning Glory) on CD.

This is actually a question I ask on first dates and to people I just meet. It's usually something embarrassing.
