Tru TV is an American cable network that specializes in reality shows. In addition to the rebroadcasts of the network reality shows, they also produce their own original programming. This Sunday, April 17th, a new cop show called Police POV will premiere that looks dizzying and like a live-action version of the Sierra/Irrational Games PC S.W.A.T. franchise. Unlike the long running FOX series, COPS where the cameraman is always trailing behind the police officers as they do their job, in this show, law enforcement is wearing the camera on their heads hence the "POV", point of view. What's really jarring is the angle the image takes when the policeman draws their weapon because it looks like something straight from a video game. Now since this is police work and American TV, I'm almost certain there won't be much gun play in the show, however there will be lots of running and pointing. The reason police departments agree to do these types of shows is because they're good for public relations, so I doubt the producers would air any graphic shootouts.

This kind of sounds like something from a Hollywood movie, but here it actually is. I wonder if as our tolerance level numbs, we'll be okay with this idea being imported to military soldiers. Wouldn't the major news networks love something like this as a soldiers go on patrol in some theater of conflict? They loved the in-cam bombs dropping during the two Desert Storms. Of course, it would all be tightly edited so as not to show anyone actually dying.
