Oh my fucking god.

#4 Posted by KaosAngel (13765 posts) -

I'm confused...first it was sand people who believe in some moon god, then it was sand people in America that like to scream "lalalalallala", and now it's Mr. Rogers.  On a scale of 1-10 (1 being mexicans and 10 being sand people) where does he fit?

#5 Posted by FrankCanada97 (4039 posts) -

This is beyond bullshit. This level of stupidity transcends time and space.

#6 Edited by Rinkalicous (1340 posts) -

It's crazy to blame Mr Rogers (whoever THAT is) about all this, but I agree with the basic idea. Kids who get praised no matter what find less and less value in the praise they get. Even if they actaully do something worthy of praise, they'll just lump it in with all the 'fake' praise they get, and it'll be worthless to them. Maybe that's not exactly what they were saying, but I believe they got the basic idea correct- this 'every child is special' mentality is just going to end in tears. Or maybe i'm justbeing overly cynical... who knows, I'm special, either way, right, Mr Rogers?

#7 Posted by Wolverine (4281 posts) -

Wow this really pisses me off. I remember being young and watching Mr. Rogers in the morning and I loved his show. Even until today he seems like he was a great peaceful guy. Fuck Fox News.

#8 Posted by Bellum (2944 posts) -

lmfao @ LSU

#9 Posted by Hamz (6846 posts) -

I'm lost for words. That is what makes prime time news in the USA?

"With all you people as role models, no wonder my son is... SENSITIVE"
-Clay Puppington, Moral Orel Season 3 Episode 11; Sacrifice

Essentially what they were pushing. Stay classy Fox News.

#11 Posted by GobiasIndustries (356 posts) -

No fucking way. This is pathetic on their part.

What a bunch of bullshit

#12 Posted by Computerplayer1 (991 posts) -

Just when you thought Fox couldn't get any more retarded...

#13 Posted by Wolverine (4281 posts) -

Can someone render this video. Fox is messing with this guy!

#14 Edited by Keyser_Soze (1186 posts) -

You idiots don't get it. FOX IS TRYING TO GET THEIR FUCKING RATINGS UP!

It's why they've recently dived into a whole new realm of idiocy, what with the blatantly obnoxious "Canadian army bashing", I found that bashing funny since they love the wars the Canadian army is in so much. Why bite the hand that helps you?

STOP GETTING RILED UP SO MUCH, IGNORE THEM, THEY WANT YOU TO GO TO THEIR SITE.

NewsCorp (owner Rupert Murdoch, parent company of FOX) lost $6.4 Billion last year. That's bleeding them dry. They need the clicks, viewers, and money.

#15 Posted by slinky6 (567 posts) -

oh sweet christ.

#16 Posted by Wolverine (4281 posts) -

I think I am going to make a video about how retarded Fox is for making this statement. I'll link to it here later.

Actually the Mexicans became a threat last year, they're now a 7, what with Mexico internally destabilising, drug wars and border security.

On a scale of danger to American society of:
1- Penguins and 10- Brown People, Mr Rogers is an 8. He's a societal deviant, but he's not brown enough to pose a full Defcon 1 level of danger.
#18 Posted by angelkanarias (1440 posts) -

lol. this is plain stupid.

#19 Posted by Dilly (11 posts) -

Maybe Fox is just jealous because no one told them that they were special.

#20 Posted by Otacon (2209 posts) -

Fuming... so special means straight A student, NO This guy was trying to show kids that they matter. What would these guys prefer, a kids show presenter to say, doing well in school? No? well you aren't special like the other kids. When a kid is in a system that upholds the achievers and downplays the underachievers kids lose interest, and perhaps never get it back. Lets look at what that woman watched as a kid, cos she's 'special' in a different sense.

While it's definitely ridiculous on the surface to think about such ideas, did any of you ever stop to think about the attitude of the people around you? Who avoid responsibility at every turn and who believe that confidence and a positive mental attitude is more important than (and somehow precedes) success?

You don't think the sense of entitlement has exploded in the western world this generation? This expectation that being one of several hundred thousand people with a sociology degree will somehow make one more marketable?

Where is the idea that value needs to be generated in order for it to be derived?

Something from nothing is the way of the world nowadays, and the economic crisis isn't doing anything to solve that -- as the majority are blindly in lock-step with their countries' administrations on inflating our way out of recessions.

Just because Fox News exaggerates, and at times seems to be self-satirizing, doesn't mean there isn't something true at the base of all this.

#25 Posted by Video_Game_King (36272 posts) -

Wait...he's evil? What about teaching us to love each other, regardless of superficial differences? Simple morality, like sharing? That's evil? Mr. Rogers wasn't f'ing Satan Claus, he was Mr. Rogers.

#26 Posted by BigBoss1911 (2503 posts) -

Mr Rogers would have kicked all theyre asses.

You must have not been a large fan of Mr Rogers.

Next they'll be accusing Barney of promoting witchcraft to young children.  "Well you see, Barney isn't a dinosaur from their imagination but a tool of the devil. The sinister image of a stuffed toy coming to life is teaching children to shove things up their ass at a premature age.". FUCK OFF FOX.

Chuck Norris should be in charge of Human Resources in Fox. They'd keep there P.C mouths in line then, lest the get a roundhouse kick in it.

#29 Posted by Suicrat (3764 posts) -

I don't know, it's not as though this is a Fox-News-only Phenomenon. The fallout from the Self-esteem movement is being felt in Britain as well.

I'm sorry to say Shazam... but we got to Chuck too late. He's the replacement for Sean Hannity when he's not there.
#31 Posted by Suicrat (3764 posts) -

I laugh at the left for thinking they ever had a chance with Chuck Norris. He's been a religious-right-wing nut doing Karate since the 70s.

Then we must hope for the Zombie apocalypse. The last thing we need is a group of "experts" telling us to consider the zombies feelings and how they prefer the term "Mutant Undead".

Wait, does this mean I'm not special? *cry* *suicide*

Then why target a single man and lay the blame on his shoulders? The framing of the "self esteem" argument by Fox was very amateurish, but then again they've always been a bunch of fucking amateurs when it came to selling news to the mass public. They have no clue on how to be subtle, it's the key to propaganda and the key to getting people to think you're a legitimate news media organisation. Fox is like some Soviet relic spewing garbage half the time and the people know it, just like in Soviet Russia the people knew they were being fed the party line, which is why Soviet propaganda was never any good.
#35 Edited by dr_nefarious (1619 posts) -

MY GOD....Fox better be pulling one over on us because if not, all I have to say about this country is the political and commercial morals of the United States are not merely food for laughter, they are an entire banquet.

#36 Posted by Red (5995 posts) -

It seems someone didn't have their sarcasm detector on.

Or maybe they forgot it was April Fools.

And HOW is telling children that they're special bad?

#37 Posted by Snipzor (3317 posts) -

Mr Rogers, teaching us to love each other since 1968... also ultimate evil

No, they'd accuse him of socialism. "I love you, you love me." "He loves them all equally, but plans on taking the toys from the big kids and giving them to the little kids. Is Barney a socialist?"

Oh, and Chuck Norris is an outspoken conservative. If anything, you've just made Fox News the head of an evil new regime led by Chuck Norris that cannot be stopped. LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!!!
#39 Posted by Hamz (6846 posts) -

Thinking about it didn't Mr Rogers win the fight in the 'Ultimate Showdown' thing that was going around the internet?

Maybe he IS the ultimate evil :O

this is idiocy i grew up in a special school can you imagine a more motivational poster strewn environment?
Unfortunately due to me living in the uk I never encountered Mr. Rodgers but I can tell you the way I think today is forged through a childhood of Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z.

... Alright, let's think clearly for a moment here, everyone.  First of all Fox and Friends is known for stupidity. Second, did anyone else notice that they were laughing throughout the entire thing? They were joking about it? One of them even stated how ridiculous the whole thing was, and the guy who agreed did so in a very tongue-in cheek manner. They weren't even endorsing the information, just reporting studies done by LSU. Not shame on Fox news, shame on all of you for blowing this whole thing way out of proportion.

It's Fox and Friends. In order for something to be eligible to report, it has to be completely idiotic (there is one link for both words). It's a morning show, that's just what they do.

Oh yes america. We finnaly realized what makes your country have so many pregant teens, drug addicts, suicidal kids and extremely crazy religious people.
Its all Mr.Rogers fault. How wrong of us thinking that its just becouse you have your heads were so deep on your asses (Dont worry. Not all of you.YOURE SPECIAL) that you started spitting out verbal diarrhea.
Mr Rogers is Satan.Wheres my shotgun were starting a riot potentially killing eachother.

#48 Edited by SmugDarkLoser (4619 posts) -

And you know, the funny part about this all is that Mr. Roger's was much more prevalent ihn the 60-70s, not the 90s
And yes, as long as you don't act stupid and do hard drugs or kill someone, it'll all be good.

When your running a 24hour news channel, you need all the stories you can get to fill that time up.

I also like how only when Fox makes a blunder everyone gangs up on them but if any other news channel did something stupid it would get ignored.
I am not defending the story though.
