I've sort of been excited for this day to come for years just to hear the news stories about crazy doomsdayers doing crazy doomsdayers things. So far I've only heard this little bit about some cult trying to spread hysteria in China. Hopefully there's not too much looting but I hope to hear some interesting stuff.

If any of you guys hear any fun stories in the next few days please share!

There's a lawyer who plans to jump in a vortex he thinks will open up tomorrow. It'll probably be a suicide jump.

Wait, I'm confused. Why can't anybody stop him from killing himself?

Didn't actually read most of that, but I believe authorities can only stop someone if their intent is to take their own lives and, in this case, that is not the person's intent at all?

@FluxWaveZ: THAT IS HILARIOUS. I can't wait for it to hit YouTube.

It's crazy fuckin' windy over here in southern Indiana. I haven't heard anyone attribute it to the end of times, though. And we're all about the end of times in the midwest.

Well, that's appropriately fucked up for the occasion.

Hot news!

It's still raining, and it will probably continue to rain today.

I've waited two whole hours for this rain to end (along with the world) but i got nothing!

Must be my timezone. I guess I'm too far in the future so I missed the world ending or something.

Maybe North America will melt or something? I dunno.

#9 Posted by JonathanAshleyMoore (276 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

Two hours into the end of the world here in jolly ol' England, nothing yet.

#10 Posted by EarlessShrimp (1131 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

@JonathanAshleyMoore: That's because the Mayan's scheduled the end of the world to begin at Midnight Eastern Time. So, we got about 3 more hours.

#11 Posted by SerHulse (647 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

I saw Neil deGrasse Tyson encouraging people to convince anyone they know, who thinks the world will end, to sign over all of their assets to them before "The End".

I hope there are some success stories from that.

I hope some day a new civilization finds one of my calendars and thinks I predicted the end of the world.

All I've heard is that a lot of tourists decided to go to the ancient pyramid ruins in Mexico and the story the OP posted.

Do you have side-sweep hair and smoke cigarettes inside the school bike-sheds? Are you that kind of cool?

I just heard a commercial that ended with a lady saying "Merry Pringles".

#38 Posted by MentalDisruption (1327 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

Right now I'd like to think there is a small group of teenagers, say 6 to 8, battling against monsters we don't know exist to prevent the end of the world. Spiky hair and lots of belts optional.

#39 Posted by handlas (2258 posts) - 5 months, 2 days ago

Just think...what if you legitimately die tomorrow. It's the end of the world for you (well depending on your beliefs I guess).

That would suck.

But no, all this stuff is so silly.

@MentalDisruption Do you think they're discovering things they didn't know about themselves along the way? What's the over/under on the cool one dying and the annoying one never going away ever?

I've been telling all of my women friends to not go outside tomorrow.

Because of the high possibility of "end-of-the-world rapers"

I doubt in 750 AD, the Mayans were like, "Hey Greg, when you make that calendar make sure to denote that all times and dates are Eastern Standard Time, GMT -5. Thanks duder!"

Windy as hell here in Southwest-ish Idaho too. Annoying since the breeze comes through the sides of the window next to where I sit. Really need to replace them.

I hope the world doesn't end, the Steam Winter Sale just started! And I just grabbed Wargame.
