Not sure if anyone else listens to the debriefings, but they totally slammed on the GB crew on last night's episode.
Some choice quotes:
"...I voted for the other one with the fat guys that wear jean shorts in the winter."
"Ah dood, pacman is great — where's a ham sandwhich."
Nice one douchebag.
Gamespy Debriefings hating on the Bombcast
Nothing to worry about, the Giant Bombcast doesn't need to insult other podcasts in order to stand out.
from what i've heard of bromley on rebel.fm, i know to tune him out whenever he speaks. around what time do they bash giantbomb in the podcast?
EDIT: oh, wow, right from the get go. classy stuff.
Never say they when you talk about the Debriefings. When something ridiculous/unfunny is said, it's usually Scott Bromley.
TBH it's one line out of a whole podcast and Bromley plays up to a persona on podcasts. I'm sure Bromley and the GB crew are on good terms, no point trying to create internet 'beef'.
THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
" TBH it's one line out of a whole podcast and Bromley plays up to a persona on podcasts. I'm sure Bromley and the GB crew are on good terms, no point trying to create internet 'beef'. "no beef--the guy is just an attention whore while the mics are on. it's obnoxious, regardless of who he targets.
The Debriefings have given me more laugh out loud moments than any other podcast I listen too. That being said I'd never choose it over the Bombcast. They both serve their purposes.
" Gamespy's still a thing? "Funny, that's seriously exactly what I was thinking.
Eh, Bromley's just some asshat misogynist. He used to be overweight himself, got thin and is apparently too stupid to realize that his new found visions of grandeur is a serious psychological disorder. Forget the Giantbomb guys, they're adults and can take it; I feel bad for all the shit Ryan Scott has to take.
" Yeah I heard that episode this morning and couldn't believe he was trying to hate on the Giantbombcast. I am not going to lie for a few episodes I thought the routine they had on Gamespy Debriefings was kinda funny. Now though I just find it real annoying Everytime Anthony and Ryan seem like they are about to get in a word in about video games Scott jumps in with middle school humor. Don't get me wrong I can be pretty raunchy at times when it comes to telling a story but damn not all the time. It sucks to have Ryan and Anthony on a podcast together again only to have some other guy shitting all on it with his "humor". He can hate all he wants (hopefully it is just in jest). The Giantbombcast and Rebel FM are the 2 podcast I look forward to on a weekly basis. Gamespy Debriefings is the one where I get to it when I get to it. I wonder if it is to late to vote because I will head over to that website right now and vote 10 times a day. When it comes to gaming podcast I feel in my opinion Giantbomb deserves it. "100% agree. I would love to hear Ryan and Anthony geek out. Anthony started up WOW again and I would love to hear what kind of weird shit he is getting into.
" The Debriefings have given me more laugh out loud moments than any other podcast I listen too. That being said I'd never choose it over the Bombcast. They both serve their purposes. "Me too, but maybe make a comedy podcast? It's frustrating hearing Scott talk over everyone.
Videogame podcasts are some of the hardest podcasts to listen to in all of the internet. So many of them are rooted in teh basic nerd need to be liked and thought of as cool that they become unlistenable.
Giant Bomb tipped their hat to the Joystiq podcast as "apparently being pretty good" so I went to listen to it and it was a travesty. Imagine 3 of the most nasal voiced nerds you can dream up ranting in foul language about how so and so game offends them personally.
The thing Giant Bomb has taht most of these other sites don't have, though, is talent. And even then GB is sometimes hard to tolerate. I can't tell you how many times I want to put my fist through a screen when the guys are actively enjoying a game and all they can manage to say about it is that it's "alright". As though liking something will ruin their credibility at the jr, high lunch table.
" Yeah, gamespy sucks. I stopped visiting their site a lot time ago. They are a dying web site. "Agreed. Giant Bomb and GameInformer are killing poor old GameSpy off because of how much better our communities and members are. I have not visited GameSpy in over 3 years.
Nothing much to add to this, but I tried to listen to the show to listen to what actually happened and CHRIST, who fucking equalizes this show? Answer, NO ONE!
" I thought Gamespy died earlier this decade. Shoot, I be pissed off too if I worked there. "Funny thing is only one guy actually works for Gamespy. The rest are from IGN's "Humor" team. Except for Anthony Gallegos.
Ultimately, most gaming podcasts wish they cold be the Bombcast; unfortunately in terms of both editorial skill and humor, they fall woefully short. Most are either pretentious, naval-gazing, overtly political, vitriolic, or simply unable to express an opinion effectively. I subscribe to about 10 other gaming podcasts (Rebel FM, Sarcastic Gamer, Joystiq, CAGCast, Weekend Confirmed, 1UP radio, gamespy debriefings, game informer, G4TV, and Geekbox) and IMO. none is comparable to the Bombcast
