Giant Bomb reference on Archer!

So I saw on twitter that there was going to be a Giant Bomb reference on Archer so I watched very intently and found "GL-HB" on a folder in one scene. Here's the screen cap with the GL-HB boxed. It's great to see GB references on TV!

That's a pretty esoteric reference, though. Couldn't it just be coincidence? It's not like one of those was the Giant Bomb bomb or anything, or the word "duder".

Um - I don't get it - what is GL-HB?

I guess I should have mentioned that one of the artists from the show tweeted that he was a GB fan and that there would be a reference in tonight's episode.

I guess there was an even bigger reference but the scene got cut. Wonder what it was?

Wow, say what? Been a fan of 70-30 since before Sealab 2021 sucked (RIP Harry Goz) and I never had any idea they were into WM/GB. Somebody should try and get the Time Trotters rights from CNET (and retool the show to where it's not just quicklooks with an animated intro) and call these fools up.

"Duder", in and of itself, is a reference from The Big Lebowski, good sir.

There's also a rather classy definition for what a "duder" is on Urban Dictionary:

By the very nature of how these things work, if I included Luchadeer or something like that in the scene he would be owned by 20th Century Fox, and no one wants that. So in-jokes usually work best.

Also, looks like I owe Patrick a mention in a future episode. Sorry dude!

I was looking for the references as well, but didn't see it as I was watching the Episode. Figured it was on the binders though.

Whatever, Giant Bomb has had an Archer reference for ages.

I've been on this site fo 3 years, and GL-HB means nothing to me.

I find "references" to things nobody even knows about to be more annoying that interesting. It's not that hard to sneak something in, if nobody knows what the hell it is.

@DFSVegas: It's been a running joke since early Starcraft 2 coverage, as a play on GL HF, the common greeting in that game's multiplayer scene. GL HF means "Good luck; have fun", while GL HB is "Good luck; have batman".

While I can understand not having caught the origin of the thing, it's amazing that you've avoided it altogether. Though, I suppose it really gained steam in the live stream chats. If you're never in any of those, I guess it's less surprising.

Oh man I fucking love Archer, regardless of this.

I could picture a lot of Jeff's rants being in Archer, like the space thing from the last Bombcast. It would also be cool if he did a reading of My Exotic Farm :)
