Almost anything made by Sennheiser.  This pair of headphones in particular, if you don't mind that they are not earbuds.

I have no experience with their earbuds, but these look pretty good.

Links are to Amazon, just to let you know.

After going through countless pairs of earbuds for my Ipod (default Ipod ones hurt my ears...) I've found that the cheap $20 Sony earbuds work the best.  Sound gets the job done, and they are durable.  If you cannot find earbuds that fit your ears, I know of at least one company (Skullcandy) that has a set of earbuds with moldable insets.

If you wouldn't mind them, the ones that actually stick into your ear work well and will never fall out because..well..they stick into your ear instead of just sit their a little bit inside.

Go with Sony's earbuds for the cheapest. Best deal is Sennheiser's. If you got money to waste with a little above aveage that look cool, go with Skullcandy For sure!

I just bought a new pair, £14 off amazon, really good sound quality and stuff but whenever the wire gets a knock its applified in through the earbud. Its like sitting in a cave whilst its raining. I have absolutly no practical advice to help you avoid this....I even tried searching for other people who've had a similar problem, but i cant find anyone. So. I have now realised this post is useless to all.

I've been using Shure sound isolating earbuds for years. I just recently bought a replacement for my last set and got the SE-210's. A little expensive at $159, but comfortable and very high quality if you can afford it. I think they can be found on Amazon for around $110-$120.

I actually have had a pair of them and  now I have the pair up, but I'm really rough with the wire and after about a year the first pair gave in I nearly cried, they really are some awesome headphones.

@Ineedaname:  Glad to hear it.  A friend of mine has been looking for some earbuds, so I will recommend these to her as well.
