For some reason I was put in charge of finding music my BCM's Dance-A-Thon. It's a contest to see who can last the longest. It's to raise money for something. Help the needy. I need some music from any time period that's good to dance to, and appropriate since it's a religious organization. Stuff from games is cool too as long as it's not obviously from a game. I don't want to look like a nerd in front of all these girls. A good example would be Pjanoo by Eric Prydz that came from the GTA IV: Ballad of Gay Tony trailer or Real Emotion from Final Fantasy X-2. So far I have

  • Every Time We Touch - Cascada
  • Rasputin - Boney M
  • Derezzed - Daft Punk
  • Pjanoo - Eric Prydz
  • Hip to be Square - Huey Lewis and the News (check em')
  • Dragostea Din Tei - O-Zone
  • Hitchin' a Ride - Vanity Fair
  • Que Veux Tu - Yelle (Madeon Remix)
  • Walking In L.A. - Missing Persons
  • Still Alive (Teddy Bears Remix) - Lisa Miskovsky
  • Dancing in the Dark - Bruce Springsteen
  • Telephone - Lady Gaga
  • Call Your Girlfriend - Robyn
  • Somebody Told Me - The Killers
  • La Totura (Spanish) - Shakira
  • Carribean Queen - Billy Ocean
  • Karma Chameleon - Culture Club
  • Mellow When I'm Dead - Weird Al
  • Helena Beat - Foster the People

I need a DJ name too. I have funny names like "DJ Bootknife", "DJ Infinity Engine", "DJ Budd Dwyer", "DJ HIV420 24/7", but I need something useable.

Anything by Midnight Brown.

I was going to recommend Madeon, but since you already have one of his songs you could try something a little different and check out MSTRKRFT.

EDIT: Also, it's 2012, so you pretty much need to play one of the sillier Skrillex songs.

I'll throw in a few...

  • Sly & The Family Stone - "Dance to the Music"; "Soul Clappin'"
  • Fatboy Slim - "Praise You"; "Weapon of Choice"
  • Beastie Boys - "Body Movin'" (Fatboy Slim remix)

I vote for DJ Budd Dwyer.

Or you can just be DJ I Love Christ.

I find that its easier for my to dance to trashy rap music.  Also you should use DJ Morooka

And I don't know if you've ever heard of these guys, but Christian dance music is what they do: Andy Hunter, Family Force Five.

...Tell you what, why don't you just borrow my computer for the event. It'll be so much easier.

Classy parties listen to yacht rock.

Its not a dance party without Around the World, come on.

3lau (pronounced Blau) is one of the best mash-up DJ's I've ever heard. This is a remix of an Adele song and it's also one of the best dance tracks I've ever heard:

Seriously, bitches love this shit, yo.

Jesus Christ, Weird al? Here's some real hot bangers.

SBTRKT -Pharaohs.
M83 - Midnight City
R. Kelly - Ignition (Remix)
The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die
Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (MSTRKRFT remix)
Bat for Lashes - Daniel

And pretty much any daft punk track prior to human after all.

Just noticed the religious part in the OP and realised the R. Kelly recommendation may not be entirely appropriate. Eh, go for it, add a little spice.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I was thinking about Around the World by Daft Punk but it's kind of repetitive. I'll have to listen to it again.

I was going to use Rock n Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain) by Skrillex but a British guy says AND FUCK YOU in the middle of it for no reason, but I replaced that with "GARBAGE DAY" and it fits perfectly.

I'm kidding about that, but I really love this remix:

Unlike "real" music, I'm recommending video game music that make me want to dance.

Bring out the strippers!

Darn, the strippers are gone... =-P

ok first of more dubstep is needed at your party so here we go:

There that is some cute and non terrifying dubstep now some more dance music:

I will now also stop posting the actual videos cause this editor is crapping out and becomes a pain.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsMVbv7IPmA

you could of course also still at the party rock anthem but I do not have the guts to actually post that in here.

I can barely still stand this song after having heard it so much but it remains good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnET4RKXx5k&ob=av2e

We shall no proceed with a few old titles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qk7i6487-w

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkQ5rEJaTmk

Whats a party without barbra? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu_zwdmz0hE&ob=av2e

Some people also like to hear the black eyed peace while dancing but giantbomb might not be the place to post that either.

Have fun!

If you are okay with some profanity, any of DJ Girl Talk's songs will do.

#27 Posted by Fajita_Jim (1463 posts) -

Anything by Lords of Acid, especially something like She and Mr. Jones. I'd embed the Youtube but Lords of Acid are kinda sexually explicit.

Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim.

#30 Posted by BonOrbitz (2175 posts) -

What's that poppy dance song Vinny always plays during TNT? It was played around the 1:05 mark during the Shootmania TNT and it sounds like Rihanna with a lot of auto tune. The more I hear that song the more it grows on me and I don't know if I should be embarrassed about that.

#31 Posted by Arbie (1449 posts) -

Why isn't MC Hammer on that list? =o

Also, you should add some Michael Jackson. And what's wrong with cheesy music like songs from the Grease soundtrack?!

If nothing like that gets them dancing just play this:

I don't really get invited to parties very often. I hope your dance-a-thon goes well!
