Normal wasp spray should do fine. Just spray and keep away from it for a few hours. Make sure to stand as far away as you can when you spray it. DO NOT HIT IT WITH A BASEBALL BAT

Wasp Killer. You can probably find it at home depot, or a local electical supply house (they often nest in outdoor light fixtures).

Okay thanks guys i'll got buy some spray,

And if that does not work I'll just

HIT IT WITH A BASEBALL BAT

Definitely, DEFINITELY hit it with a baseball bat.

Try to stand under it when you do this for maximum effect.

buy some wasp nest powder killer it will kill the wasps off over a few days and the nest as well

Maybe try fire? Fire works, too.

@toxicfruit: First, ask someone outside of a video game forum, because they might have more experience at this sort of thing.

Second, buy some anti-wasp spray at Home Depot or similar home/gardening store.

Third, wait until late at night when they are sleeping to spray the hive, because otherwise, they will get angry and sting the fuck out of you before they die.

Echoing the advice in this thread. I had to deal with my first wasp nest myself not 2 weeks ago. Wait until dusk, night or early morning when they're less active, stand as far as you can, and spray the shit out of it.

Layer your clothing (long sleeved is best) and tuck your pants into your socks if you're really paranoid like me. I also got lucky and did it when it was pouring rain at night. Figured the cross fire would get any I didn't spray. Good luck.

Raid has worked well for me in the past. It seems to make them fall to the ground and have seizures as soon as it hits them, which is really morbid. But it's effective.

Quoting this post in case the OP didn't see it. This is the most effective way to deal with those fuckers.

Wasp and hornet spray. I hate killing wasps like the one that got in my house. They have a nasty repeat sting, but the ones here are so passive. I would have just tried to get him out the door if it wasn't for the cats.

Yellow jackets are different, they suck. Since they tend to burrow, I wait till evening ,spray/saturate into the hole I've located, and get the hell out of there.

Sell the house, cut your losses.

Homemade flamethrower. Find any flammable aerosol you can, get one of those long lighters, and enjoy the show. I recommend a hoodie, long pants, gloves, and goggles.

If you can get your hands on some Termidor, that will solve all of your problems.

Don't know if it is legal where you live (wouldn't be surprised if you need to be a licensed exterminator to get it) but that shit is awesome.

Be careful with it though - that's some industrial strength, heavy duty stuff. Wear a mask.

Set up an education programme for the lady wasps and make contraception freely available.

#22 Posted by TobbRobb (4610 posts) -

I dunno, we usually just leave them the fuck alone. I've had to wack down a few empty nests every once in a while though. Thankfully wasp nests are pretty rare.

#23 Posted by spraynardtatum (2837 posts) -

Do you mean this kind of wasp? All you need to do is give them directions to the nearest golf course or capitalist business lecture. Are there any tennis courts near by that have high walls?

You could also sprinkle brandy outside of your property but make sure it's a good year.

Piss on it.

But seriously the answer you chose is best would pretty much be what I would say. So I don't know why I'm posting in this thread...

Hi.

Yeah, there were quite a few around where I lived as a kid, something really unsettling with just seeing them. I'm not afraid of spiders, not even wasps themselves, but their hives give me creeps. Made playing System Shock 2 pretty hard when you start to encounter the nests.

#30 Posted by Slag (4274 posts) -

@toxicfruit: Use the foam stuff if you can that makes it hard for them to get out of the hive.

whatever you use if it's near electrical work make sure you get one that's safe for that. Getting stung stinks, getting electrocuted sucks a whole worse.

and as others have said only doing during hours when the wasps are inactive.

I'll just set the whole damn bush they are in on fire and then hit it with fire while i am on fire

@toxicfruit: Well clearly you don't need help from here then, go forth.

Here's a tip: Don't paint near one while holding the paint bucket. When the wasps fly towards your face, you will drop the bucket, and you will require wire brushes to clean up the spill off of the concrete.

If you have skylights in your home, always be wary of potential wasp nests. If you see one, there's a good chance that there's a random wasp just hanging out on the floor for no good reason, and it will sting you if you step on it.
