He is my favorite non-Giant Bomb gamer dude, and he seems like a rad dude. Hope he gets through this.

#52 Posted by illmatic19 (964 posts) -

Man, that sucks. I remember being a huge Beyond listener up until Roper got laid off. Thoughts are with him.

#53 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8698 posts) -

Terrible thing for anyone to go through I know from experience, I wish it upon nobody.

He has a very positive diagnosis though, good for him!

#54 Posted by Korolev (1703 posts) -

Well, hope he gets better. Hodgkin's is one of the more curable forms, although it is nothing to take lightly. No cancer ever is.

#55 Posted by amardilo (118 posts) -

Cancer sucks. I hope he beats it.

#56 Posted by g6065 (273 posts) -

FUCK CANCER.

#57 Posted by Humanity (9054 posts) -

I think he's terribly unfunny and that show he does with a live audience is awful but I hope he pulls through without serious complications because whatever my feelings on his life or career might be, cancer is terrible.

Don't really know a lot about the guy, but getting diagnosed with cancer isn't fun news for anyone. Hope he keeps a positive outlook and gets well soon!

#59 Posted by MyNiceIceLife (618 posts) -

he seems to have a good outlook on his situation, which is sometimes half the battle. hope everything goes well for him and he kicks cancers butt!

#60 Posted by Fearbeard (826 posts) -

I've never liked him or his writing that much (though that's my typical reaction for people who are forced to write about a single console)

Still though, I wish him the best and hope he recovers fully.

#61 Posted by HellBrendy (994 posts) -

Never heard of the guy, but cancer is an ugly monster. Hope he get a quick recovery.

#62 Posted by Vonocourt (2126 posts) -

I wish I could find a clip of him impersonating himself waking up in the morning.

I used to really enjoy podcast beyond. I hope for a quick turnaround.

#63 Posted by cclemon36 (180 posts) -

Greg seems like a good guy, from listening to Podcast Beyond. All the best to him, I'm sure he'll kick that cancer's ass.

#64 Posted by OmegaPirate (5523 posts) -

Condolences to the bloke - that shit's no joke!

#65 Posted by Baillie (4081 posts) -

Some of you act like just because it's Hodgkin's he's gonna be fine. People die from that all the time, I mean, Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) lost his battle with it.

#66 Posted by TheSouthernDandy (3855 posts) -

He's a good dude. Despite being a ps3 fanboy. He was always the most entertaining dude when I used to listen to ign podcasts. Best of luck to him!

#67 Posted by MattyFTM (14368 posts) -

I'm not a big fan of IGN, but he is by far one of the best people over there and is doing some cool stuff. He seems pretty positive about it though, so I'm sure he'll recover.

Yea there are various versions of it, the one Andy Whitfield had was a much more aggressive type. From what it sounds like, Greg has a less dangerous type.

Michael C Hall (the guy who plays Dexter) also had Hodgkins.

I fucking hate Greg Miller, but I wish him health.

#70 Posted by Yummylee (21506 posts) -

I'm not a fan of Mr Miller, but it's bloody cancer for Christ sake. Hopefully he'll have a speedy recovery.

#71 Posted by BlackLagoon (1408 posts) -

Wish him the best, cancer sucks.

#72 Posted by jakob187 (21663 posts) -

Greg seriously is the best thing...if not the only thing...on IGN. BEYOND!

#73 Posted by Demoskinos (14769 posts) -

I don't really like the guy or his work but cancer is awful and nobody should have to experience it. Read the article and the prognosis seems good so seems like he will make it through okay.

#74 Posted by ScurrilousNerd (5 posts) -

Horry Shet, Greg is the whole reason I went to IGN in the first place, now been listening to BEYOND! for close to 4 years. Thank god it's a relatively "easy" cancer

#75 Posted by csl316 (8445 posts) -

Shit.

#76 Posted by BestUsernameEver (4825 posts) -

@ScurrilousNerd: It's a pretty lightweight cancer even at stage 3, and all things point to him finding it VERY early. This is such an easy cancer, it might not even affect him again until old age (because many cancers multiply the chances of reoccurring cancer later on.) I believe it's like 90% chance of surviving this for 5 years, and then the stats get all complicated, I didn't study that part too hard.

Some say your own brain is your worst enemy when going through cancer, and he obviously has a sense of humor about the whole thing, so I wouldn't be concerned.

#78 Edited by NTM (7340 posts) -

Well... at least he won't die. I wish him luck though. It sounds like he's taking it OK. He seems to be one of the more recognizable people from IGN, plus, I believe he's the only one that's talked with the crew of Giantbomb where the viewers can listen in as well, and that's awesome.

#79 Posted by jewunit (1056 posts) -

I hope Greg's battle with cancer goes as well as he thinks it will. Chemotherapy is a terrible thing to go through for any human being. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

#80 Posted by Pazy (2563 posts) -

Cancer always sucks, I really hope he gets through this. Though I understand a lot of the criticisms people have about IGN I still really like the personalitys overthere and I am an Avid listener of Podcast Beyond, Game Scopp and viewer of Up At Noon. I really hope he pulls though.

#81 Posted by aurahack (2270 posts) -

I can't say I'm exactly the biggest fan of Miller, but I really do wish him the best. I can't imagine it being any kind of pleasant to be told such news. Row row, fight the powah, man.

#82 Posted by SJSchmidt93 (4894 posts) -

Used to love the shit out of that man when I followed IGN. Hope he gets well.

#83 Posted by crithon (3138 posts) -

As I turn 34 everyone's getting cancer, it's freaking scary. Everyone get checked up. Go to a clinic, go to an ER, just do yourself a favor and get checked out for anything. And it's not enough to get one test, get another test, there's a lot of lazy doctors out there.

#84 Posted by PrivateIronTFU (3874 posts) -

Hey, people. Guess what? Nobody gives a shit if you don't like the guy. If you don't like him, keep it to yourself. This is not the place to say that, and the fact that some of you think that's okay is mind boggling to me.

I hope he pulls through and wish him the best.

#85 Posted by Aquablak (194 posts) -

Terrible news. Greg is awesome, and my thoughts and prayers are with him. He can beat this.

#86 Posted by TheDudeOfGaming (6078 posts) -

Fuck all the cancers, seriously. Why didn't anyone find a cure yet? Hope the dude beats the son of a bitch.

#87 Edited by Phatmac (5725 posts) -

People that say I don't like the guy on here are fucking assholes. Please keep it to yourself. No one gives a shit and we should only wish for Greg's health. I can't believe people think its okay to say shit like that. Have some manners, folks.

#88 Edited by Devil240Z (3324 posts) -

Wow that sucks. Beyond is one of my favorite podcasts. I hope he gets well soon.

Because cancer does not have a single cause but multiple. Different cancers have different causes and almost every human cell can turn into a cancer, meaning you end up with thousands of possible cancers. It's not like AIDS where the cause is a single indentifiable (HIV) virus, thought some exceptions like hepatitis virusses and humane papilloma (warts) virusses can cause cancers. I doubt we will find a single cure for all cancers, but I'm positive we will find individual cures for individual cancers.

I'm pretty sure Greg Miller will survive this, it's very treatable yet you shouldn't underestimate the toll chemotherapy takes on a human body. I wish him luck.

No need to freak everyone out. As long you don't have a fever you can't explain, you're not sweating in the night so bad you need to change your drenched bed sheets and drenched pyjamas or have lost more than 10% of your total bodyweight in the last 6 months (or less) unintended...chances are, YOU ARe JUST FINe.

I thought Greg was dealing with this unusually well, until I found this video. What a brave kid.

I uh... I got nothing cynical or witty to say about any of this.

Life is sad and beautiful and awful.

I hope no one thinks it's disrespectful, but it reminds me of this rant he did on cancer a few years ago on Game Scoop when I used to listen to it.

Feel better Greg.

Great rant ! Greh will beat this one for sure ! BEYOND !

#94 Posted by WickedCobra03 (2103 posts) -

I have been listening to podcast beyond since 2007 on and off. Sometimes his style can get a little over bearing, but i do keep going back, so I do like him overall. Anyway, I hope he can recover and quickly at that considering he did say that they know what they are dealing with and it seems to be a fairly treatable and unagressive type.

#95 Posted by Mister_V (1267 posts) -

Oh man that sucks, Greg was the first gaming journalist i followed as a person, rather than the site they worked for.

Best wishes Greg.

#96 Edited by spilledmilkfactory (1865 posts) -

Well that's depressing.. Although I'm sure he'll be fine, since this is one of the more treatable forms of the disease. But still.. heavy stuff. Good luck Greg; you've pretty much always been my favorite IGN guy

#97 Posted by Doctorchimp (4074 posts) -

Man...that fucking sucks. Greg is awesome.

#98 Posted by probablytuna (3616 posts) -

Hmmm, I stopped listening to the IGN podcast a few months ago and visiting their site in general but I've always been a fan of Greg Miller and some of the dudes on the site there. I wish him a speedy recovery.

I've barely heard of him before as I don't go on IGN but anyone who makes a Breaking Bad joke about their own cancer is awesome in my opinion.

#100 Posted by PandaBear (1357 posts) -

As sad as it is... I know this sounds bad... but if you have to get cancer it's the one you'd want. The survivability rate is higher than most. Still feel super-bad for the guy. Anyone telling you "you have cancer" would be so hard.
