The Crue will always rule. As much as I like Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue have made my favorite song ever in Kickstart My Heart. Plus they're still awesome live. I've seen them twice in the last few years. I've also seen "Guns N' Roses" or Axl Rose and his backup band if you wanna be pedantic. Axl's pipes are a bit worn. Vince Neil is still wailing away.
Motley Crue I have a higher tolerance for (I actually really like the song "Live Wire") and Axel Rose is a dick, so Motley Crue. The only thing GNR has going for them these days is that Tommy Stinson (the former bass player for The Replacements) wastes his talent by playing for them these days.

I went with the Crue. They have the original members, whereas Axel's the only guy left of the GnR original lineup. He's a jerk, an control freak, and he's ruined the band. Now Slash on the other hand, is the f'ing man.
There's GnR and Crue on my iPod, but I think Crue has the most kick ass songs. Going from "Wild Side" to "Home Sweet Home" is pretty dang good. Besides, I'm sick to death of hearing "Sweet Child of Mine" and "Welcome to the Jungle". You rarely hear any songs off their later albums. It's almost like radio shuns anything after Apetite.
Why does such a question even need to be asked? If you like Motley Crue more than Guns N' Roses: You should either a) check yourself into a mental hospital, b) jump off a bridge, or c) both.
Everyone reading this thread needs to read "The Dirt", a book supposedly written by Motley Crue but I don't have enough faith in them to think any of the band save for Mick Mars and maybe Nikki Sixx could be intelligent enough to write coherent sentences. It's good and surprisingly they don't come off as huge rockstar douchebags (save for vocalist Vince Neil, but he sucks anyway)... unlike AXEL ROSE lolololol
