So many celebrities are dying now. God damn. :(
Harold Ramis, actor, writer and director, dead at 69
Well at least they're not 25-30. Biebs ODing ETA <5 years. I'll have to watch Groundhog Day in Ramis' honor, the best movie of all time wherein the same 5 scenes are repeated ad nauseum. Also a pretty good Stargate SG-1 episode based off Groundhog Day.
oh fuck this
Harold Ramis is a role model of mine. I love Harold Ramis. His comedy was clever while maintaining a working class ethic, edgy without being cruel, witty without being up its own ass. If Doug Kenny didn't fall off that cliff in 1980, would have been even bigger.
Everyone is talkin Groundhog Day, and it's certainly his best work, but never forget how landmark Animal House was. That movie is the reason why college sex comedies exist. It changed what you could get away with in movies, in hindsight it got away with more than they could now.
Harold Ramis gets to live on in his work, and it's good work to live on in. I would be ecstatic to leave a legacy like Harold Ramis.
STRIPES!!!! Groundhog day, man even Bedazzle remake is good.
Sigh, yeah, a few days ago had a near death experience. Flew off the handlebars on a bike landed on my head. Was in that hole black void people talk as the tunnel of light. There was no light, just a unconscious state, I just kept thinking about fighting, and it wasn't swimming, or running just trying to find some way out. Along the way I could hear people talking and start to slightly make out shapes in my peripheral vision. Like I'm regaining consciousness. And I got to the end everything came into focus, like when you turn off 3d on a 3DS game, I guess because I don't fallow religion that's the best analogy I got but it felt more about regaining control then actually seeing heaven or anything like that. Just one of those, if I just waited longer or just sat there longer I wouldn't have come too. Right now recovering from a concussion, so not as much gaming, but man..... man.... sigh, just a few seconds longer. I got a baby niece to look after, so I needed to get better.
The number of celebrities our generation are familiar with dying is only going to accelerate. It's sad every time, but nobody lives forever.
As we grow old, celebrities we are familiar with do too, and eventually die.
That being said you'll be missed. Rest in peace.
Is it weird I don't know who this is?
Egon, from Ghostbusters? Acclaimed writer and director of the likes of Groundhog Day?
It's super weird you don't! :'(
@obcdexter: Haven't watched any of the movies mentioned in the thread. So that could be why.
@brodehouse: But would you be ecstatic to die?
This totally fucking sucks. Me and my brother used to watch Ghostbusters 1 or 2 every day after school. I still remember seeing 2 in the theater at age 4. Very talented writer and director.
@video_game_king: Depends if you count Jay Leno
Very sad to hear this. RIP
I am not ready to see the Ghostbusters start to die
Yep, me too.
He was also great in a side part in Orange County where he is a college dean of admissions that the zany heroes (Jack Black and Tom Hanks' kid) inadvertently get really stoned.
He's also got a bit part in Knocked Up where he plays Seth Rogen's awesome dad. I never had a dad, but if I did I would want him to be Harold Ramis.
@demoskinos: Good God, man, you've never seen Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, or Groundhog Day? Animal House? Stripes?
Do you just hate movies?!

Go fix that... go fix that right now.
You can thank us later.
@fredchuckdave: I'll die regardless of how I feel about it. I'd feel much better about it if I had an awesome legacy of wit and humor to leave behind.
Fuck this shit. Seriously. I loved Harold Ramis and his brilliant writing. Both Ghostbusters were some of my favorite films growing up. All those original Second City guys are legends, and being a Chicagoland native who grew up loving comedy this hits even closer to home than normal. RIP.

Hearing this makes almost as sad as hearing Harold Ramis died, almost. You really should watch some of them, there fantastic movies.
@jsnyder82: Well, most of those movies came out in the 80's or early 90's and my mom really controlled what we watched when we were kids. And by the time I got to the age where I could just go back and watch Ghostbusters or RoboCop by myself I just really started falling in love with other things and as the years drudge on I become incredibly less compelled to watch any TV or movies at all.
As a major fan for Ghostbusters, Animal House and Caddyshack, this news sucks! RIP Ramis, we're going to miss you!
