I have CableOne internet and they kicked me off and I though there network was done becuase everything said it was connected. so after a day, I'll call them up and the transfered me to there internet support center, and they were like "You've been sharing copyright material, the X-Files, I want to believe", I say nothing, then he says, "Before I can turn ur modem back on, You need to tell me that u wont share copyrighted material." I was like I pay for it  I should be able to do with it wat I want!" He replies "Wrong answer" and hangs up on me, then I call back in an hour and have to say it to get back online, when did cableone start being anti-p2p?

all places are - though technically they are at least in the UK illegally monitoring your traffic - in the US or Canaathat might not be the case - in the UK it is the British Phonographic Industry (ie the record labels) that track illegal downloads and report ip addresses to the ISPs they track them direct from the websites.

Yeah I've had some friends' internet companies lower their connection speed because they found out they were dl music/movies/games illegally.

Gotta be careful.

No idea, but about 2-3 years ago Comcast called our house about me downloading a certain game, I uninstalled it then about a month or so later I reinstalled it. I have never received another call about anything relevant to downloading such things.

I will not give a definitive answer to that question, but my library of games on my computer has increased by several games. I prefer to buy games rather than resorting to downloading them, but sometimes it just happens.

85 percent of the games I have downloaded I don't even play anymore...should just uninstall them.

I dont think my ISP would do that, because if they did monitor my downlaods like that then I would probably be in prison right now.

they didnt cut him off for downloading. they cut him off for uploading/sharing. i used to download a lot, but i have stopped as its too much of a risk these days. i still might download the odd episode of a tv show , but they are shows i get through my cable anyway so i am paying for them. just like to have .avi versions to watch on PS3

My mate got a warning from his isp (the same isp i am with) for downloading n64 roms.

They can track what your doing.

Though i think in most cases the isp's dont care unless you are reported by a company etc.
