Have you ever dissected an animal in school?

I dissected a frog and a worm, pretty much one after the other.

We dissected Sheep Eyes, and Earthworms. My Earthworm had EIGHT hearts, which is funny, because they typically have FIVE hearts on average.

Nope, no dissecting of animals for me in jolly ol’ England. Unless I was in some sort of bewitched state and simply don’t remember doing it.

I know for sure I dissected a cow's eye at some point. Maybe we did a frog as well or something, I honestly don't trust my memory on that one.

Nope, my school didn't do that kind of thing. Even if they had offered it, I wouldn't have done it...just looking at dead stuff gives me a pit in my stomach and freaks me right out.

None of the schools in the counties i've studied did that disgusting shit.

I dissected a rat and a fish before I dropped out of A level biology, all I really learned is that I have a super steady hand for cutting shit up quickly and cleanly.

Also earlier in school the whole class watched the teacher dissect a pig's heart and a sheep's lung.

No, but I did gut a fish. It was fun. It wasn't in school, just for clarification.

No, there was none of that in the biology classes I took. I mean I remember putting a bit of cow liver into some acid to simulate stomach acids or something. But no dissection.

We did frogs, earthworms, and fetal pigs.

Only people who choose biology for college have to do that here. We don't do it in high school.

Then in college we did a cow (or bull can't remember exactly) eyeball, a kidney from a pig, and we inflated sheep lungs without actually dissecting them. I can't recall anything else, but I may be missing something.

No we don't do stuff like that at school.

A shark (squalus acanthias), a squid (loligo vulgaris), a starfish (asterias rubens), a worm (lubricus terrestis), a jellyfish (scyphozoa scyphomedae), a sheep heart, cow lungs and a real human (homo sapiens).

Man, the more I read in this topic, the more things I remember dissecting in high school. Completely forgot about an eye and a few others. Guess I repressed a lot of memories from those classes.

Dissected a Shark, and it was rad as shit! I got sick though. Smelled horrible!

Edit: It was a smaller shark though, like 3 feet long at the most, and we were put into groups of 4.

In the general Scince/Bio classes we never dissected anything, but in the 7th grade there was a general elective about various fields of science (i think it was Astro/Geology/Biology...and something else for each quarter of the year). Anyway we dissected a cow brain during the Bio section and it was alright, i dont think i could of handled a full animal. But i did take a dare and licked part of the brain...it tasted like preservatives.

In grade 4 we dissected owl pellets (clumps of fur and bone that owls cough up). Some of them had whole mice inside.

In my collage Bio class we dissected a worm and a fetal pig. The pig smelled really bad and I remember almost not being able to go through with it because of the smell. The worm on the other hand was still alive when we dissected it. I had to watch as it's tiny hearts slowly stopped bating one by one. It was pretty messed up.

I took a Zoology class in college and we had to purchase our own dissection kits with scalpels, etc. I believe for the semester we dissected something in every lab. That was some hardcore dissecting. Frog, shark, mollusks, etc.

Some people in the higher end science classes in my high school did but I was too stupid to be in those classes so I never did it.

I took an Anatomy class Senior Year in High School. Dissected a frog, a cat, a pig, and a shark. Great class.

I was there, watching, but didn't participate. I planned to.

But then I saw all the kids pulling the fetal pigs and entrails out and laughing while shoving the head on a stick and I was just like fuck this. It's disgusting to throw away all those lives just so some immature children can have a laugh.

I eat meat and have killed animals but I don't see any reason to do those lame disections. You remember none of it anyway. Wait until university/college where it actually matters and is applicable.

And yeah, I'm in medschool so I guess you know what that means. Let's just say that two straight weeks of dissecting the same "subject" in the middle of February in Sweden, when you don't ever see the sun if you spend the day in an autopsy room, gives you a whole new outlook on life.

Frogs my freshman year, but in Biology 2 we also dissected a cat. Fuck that. I remember that deathly smell and how hard it was to cut them veins

Also the cat thing lasted for a week so we had to put the cut up cat in a bag filled with the juices from the cat everyday at the end for a fucking week.

A worm, clam, and frog in 7th and 8th grade. I think in 10th/11th grade we did a fetal pig. I did another fetal pig in college. You have to understand I'm 26 year out of high school, and 20 years out of college; so we were still doing a lot of animal dissection back then.

Only in the university (I studied biochemistry.) Where we dissected a bunch of cockroaches and some other stuff. Frogs were out on frog-day. We got a fish or something. Or small bird. I forgot.
