Never shot a gun, or even held one. Been robbed by some guy with one though :P
Have You Ever Shot A Gun (Hopefully Not At Someone)
There's a shooting range in the woods about a half-mile out back from my house, and the cops go there usually every autumn and practice. Sometimes normal people do too. My friend and I were hunting around for 9mm cartridges (of which there are thousands) one day and some dude who my friend's dad was friends with showed up, and since nobody was around, he let us each try shooting his pistol a few times.
I used to go to a gun range with my pop and shoot .22 rifle which was fun, he let me set up my army toys and shoot at them.
I was in the Army Infantry and went to Iraq. It's safe to say I've shot a gun and at people before. I've also been shot at by numerous different types of weapons including AK-47's, RPG-7's, and mortars. As well as IED's too.
" Not a real gun no. I'm not sure I'd want to hold an instrument of death in my hands either. "So you won't drive a car either?
Held a gun, friends dad had a few never loaded tho and never fired one. Would like to. Will eventually own a handgun for protection most likely.

" @Subject2Change said:Weird then that cars kill more people then guns huh? I'm anti-gun(as in I don't think civilians should pack heat and own guns and keep them in their house and shit) but shooting a few rounds at a range is pretty fun. Though paintball is just as fun it not funner, gun ranges just capture some of that fun." @guiseppe said:A car isn't specifically made to kill, it happens by accident. I have fired hunting rifles down the range(not alone of course, im just 15) and I will hopefully get to go on a moose hunt sometime in the near future.
Nope, probably never will. If the oppurtunity arose, sure I'd do it, but I can't see myself getting that oppurtunity.
Yep, I've shot a couple pistols, a couple shotguns and a couple rifles. I plan on getting a private carry license when I turn 21.
Yes many many times. Black powder, pistol, riffle... My first date with my wife was at the shooting range. Once I knew she could shoot a .38 cal revolver I was sure she was a good match.
I live in the South...I think it's a law that everyone learns how to use a firearm before they can drive.
" @guiseppe said:I don't see the connection. Regardless of the statistics, guns are still made for that specific purpose. I don't doubt that shooting at a shooting range could be fun. I'm just saying that I personally would find it a bit uncomfortable holding a real gun." @Subject2Change said:Weird then that cars kill more people then guns huh? I am a proud owner of a .357 Magnum Revolver and a few other 9mm handguns. I like to target shoot. Would under no circumstances shoot another human being and totally support limitations on gun ownership.
Also, Sidenote, If you have never fired a firearm a 357 would knock you on your ass.
" Sorry I look fuckin crazy, I'm actually @ a party all thizzed out & drunk. That's my babygirl: 12-gauge, sawed-off <3 "you was at a party, drunk and then you decided to take out your shotgun. Surely that could have ended bad
" @CoverlessTech said:I have to disagree. Guns only kill people when you shoot them at people, much like a car only kills a person when hit by hit in some fashion(and you said cars only kill by accident, no, I can purposely run someone down if I wanted, just the same as I could purposely shoot someone)." @guiseppe said:I don't see the connection. Of course you would find it uncomfortable at first, just like the first time you get behind the wheel of a car you feel uncomfortable. They are both powerful dangerous things. Any one who picks up a gun for the first time and feels right at home should never be allowed to touch a gun, those people are the ones using guns to kill.
Like I said, I do not believe people should have the right to arms, but firing a gun in a controlled safe environment for recreational purposes is perfectly fine to me.
Anyone who is interested in the argument of whether or not guns should be more controlled should head over to Hulu and watch the episode of "30 Days" that deals with this topic. I myself was actually not very interested in it but of course like every other "30 Days" episode, it made me care.
Yeah, I have. It was a high caliber rifle at the West London shooting club a few years ago, during a Stag Day.
Yes I have, but mostly to scare away coyotes from the farm
It is always interesting to find such culturally different opinions about guns. Where I grew up, learning to shoot a gun was just something everybody did, much like riding a bicycle or using a power tool. It has its inherent dangers, but like any dangerous item, a gun is fine tool when used correctly.
And I find it interesting the several calls for banning private ownership of guns. I am firmly in the "pry it from my cold dead hands" camp when it comes to private gun ownership. I am not opposed to good regulation, age requirements, background checks, etc. But if everything checks out, I think that a citizen has the right to own a gun. The vast majority of gun owners in the United States use their weapons legally and safely. Taking away all guns because some people use them inappropriately is like banning alcohol because some people drive drunk. It is punishing the majority for the crimes of a minority and does nothing to really address the issues that cause the problem in the first place.
Never have, never will, never wanted to, never want to.
I am fortunate enough to live in a proper civilized country where regular people don't own and don't want to own firearms, and if they wanted to have to undergo a long process of testing their mental stability and responsibility.
Thank god.
Seriously, every time the internet reminds me of the fact that there are places where people think like the above poster, I am so unbelievably glad there's an entire ocean between this country and theirs.
