Behind the Screened Door :(
Have you ever witnessed the death of a podcast?
Talk Radar UK is the only one I miss, Cundy is the best thing on any podcast.
The Hot Spot
1UP.
I used to enjoy some IGN podcasts, but not so much anymore with staff changes and Greg Miller becoming a caricature of himself. Does that count as dying?
Actually, IGN UK is pretty good.
I was a big fan of a film discussion and analysis podcast called The Hollywood Saloon. I enjoyed it for years but eventually they stopped releasing episodes, and in the end the two hosts had a falling out with one another and going their separate ways.
Behind the Screened Door - for whatever reason, Alex's snark was reined in for the most part and I enjoyed that. He was still Alex, just a whole lot less awkward when talking to Rorie.
Retronauts - I think? They went live and then everything kind of caught on fire for a few months. Now I don't know.
Warning! A Huge Podcast Approaching Fast - 4+ hours of Japanese gaming was great, but I can never tell if they've stopped or Nick just got another job. Either way, I miss it. Interview with Swery with the voice actor for York reading the answers was awesome.
Yeah, I seem to remember that too.The Joystiq Podcast went from awesome to awful over the span of about one week, and never recovered. An attempt to be super-serious and stifle all personaily and humor just murdered it.

TalkRadar had died a slow and painful death. That show was the fucking bomb, man. Well, not *the* bomb.
True that. The new reformed RadioRadar ain't too shabby either. Y'all should check it out. They're stupid hard to get to, because there's no podcast tab on the gamesradar homepage anymore - but it's well worth the effort getting to them via search query.
I'll use the occasion to plug Spill.com's breadth of podcasts, but especially the LEOG (League of Extremely Ordinary Gentlemen), the definite king of podcast, as far as I'm concerned.

TalkRadar. The core crew of Chris, Brett, Mikel, and Charlie were amazing. I didn't mind Hank as much as some. Tyler hit his stride when he stopped trying so hard. I stopped listening shortly after Hollander Cooper came on board. He was just...awful. I listened to their new podcast Laser Time for a while but it never felt the same. The high point of TDAR was Chris' story of some random dog shitting on it's own balls story and their 100th episode.
God speed TDar
I use to love Three Red Lights. Slowly Nate left they retired the Jeff Bell and When Hillary left it was over.
TalkRadar and GamesRadar UK podcast. Also all the future publishing magazine podcasts as print slowly dies and all the personalities leave.
I was a big fan of The Film vault and daves of thunder both were under Adam carollas podcast network, the film vault actually came back independently.
The 1up Show, 1up Yours, Idle Thumbs, The Gamespy Debriefings, Gamespot Presents The Hotspot, Screened, Talkradar, A Life Well Wasted, Xbox 360 Fancast, The Joystiq Podcast and Jay and Silent Bob Get Jobs.
I've listened to a lot of podcasts - the one that hurt the most was Talkradar. Lasertime is not a videogame podcast and Radio Radar is awful.

Not exactly a podcast, but I used to watch NooBTooB. Pretty great and funny (those guys never held back), and had the most insane revelation in the last episode.
NooBTooB, a weekly independent podcast brought to you by gamers, for gamers. I still miss the show, though the PAX special episode they did earlier was great.

Diggnation. And, most recently, The Totally Rad Show.
Really? TRS is dead now? That sucks. I stopped watching when they went to that terrible format where they broke each segment into it's own video so they could have way more ad's being plastered in the show. So I can't speak for it recently, but there was a good year there where I was really into Diggnation and TRS.
Anyway, the only ones I was there for were Diggnation and when 1up exploded.

Yeah that was a slow painful death.
Has anyone said ExtraLife Radio yet? ELR? Scott Johnson and company had a good run, but once they stopped that show to do more focused shows, I just stopped listening. Didn't help that we moved much closer to where I work so I don't have much time for podcasts anymore... I stay a solid week behind on the bombcast as it is. =/
I don't know if it counts, but Gamespy Debriefings died and later kind of resurrected as The Comedy Button.

@Manhattan_Project said:I guess I spoke to broadly. I mean they don't give a shit about non-subscribers. I don't follow them on Twitter so I don't know what happens there but here we regulars don't get any love. The community action that is TNT is subscriber only. The Flight Club is subscriber only. Jeff answers question that are asked to him by subscribers, for subscribers in Jar Time. Why is there shit even behind a pay wall anymore? The original reason they gave was because they wanted to remain independent, and it was helping keep five sites a float. What reason is there now for them to not just open up the content to everyone like a normal website?@DarthOrange said:
@C0V3RT said:I always liked the story Chris gave in the episode where they revisited the superman getting an atom bomb in the ass topic. Chris talked about getting into a fight with his dad and how he could never get hit him. "Come on and hit me! I fuck your mother!" That shit was the best! I didn't mind Cooper all that much but I thought Henry was just such a dick sometimes. Like when I said my game of the year was inFamous 2 Cooper was the only one that agreed that it was a fantastic game. Henry said I was full of shit. I figured someone like him would be able to appreciate a superhero game, but he always seemed to dislike the PS3. The best thing about TalkRadar was that they always had the community in their mind, and they never forgot about why they were recording a podcast in the first place. They always included fan art in their posts and they encouraged community activity. Hell, a third (usually more) of each podcast was dedicated to the community. The biggest reason I stopped listening to the bombcast and watching quick looks is because the staff here doesn't seem to give the first shit about us. They will occasionally rush through some emails and other then that will almost always just mention people on this site as being assholes on the internet who write shitty things because they are assholes on the internet. The community here is 100 times more vibrant and active then it ever was on gamesradar and yet the staff never seems to appreciate it.TalkRadar. The guys are always mentioning the awesome stuff people do on twitter. At one point all of them changed their avatar to the Mega Man art someone did of them. Why do you think they get Dave, Vinny, and Drew together for every flight sim game? Why do you think they had a QL of Farming Sim 2012? Or how about Vinny and Jeff suddenly becoming the "sports guys?"
TNT is not subscriber only. Anyone can watch it live and anyone can watch it on Justin.TV. And I didn't say Flight Club. There have been two Flight Club games, Lunar Flight and one for a beta. The rest are all hour-long Quick Looks. Maybe you should actually look this stuff up instead of assuming.
As for the subscription service, since nobody knows what the business side of things looks like, I don't know.
Now that I think about, I've seen more than just TDar go down. I've seen Nintendownload Express and earlier this year Game Scoop. The latter because they decided a format change to a 15 minute daily/semi-daily video show was a good idea. Game Scoop used to be soooo good.
I used to listen to a technology podcast called Buzz Out Loud for a long time, but most of the staff split off to Twit.tv and BOL eventually died.
I miss GFW radio quite a lot. This year when GFW radio had a reunion show of sorts it was astounding how all the chemistry between co-hosts from years ago was still there. To think that I got to listen to a show like this on a weekly basis!
One way, hopefully, GB gang will grow up to develop a chemistry like the GFW crew.

While I like TWiT's TNT (Tech News Today), I still think "Buzz Out Loud" was the more interesting show. The reason they cancelled it some time ago was because of CBSi changing strategies, moving from audio podcasts to more elaborate video production (which I think was a mistake, but who knows).

Yes I agree, but BOL wasn't good for the last couple years of its existence though. Molly Wood without Veronica and Tom to keep in a check made her become a little too bitchy in my opinion. Tom + Molly + Veronica was the perfect mix. :-( I don't really listen to TNT that much anymore personally. I personal favorite podcast is The Morning Stream.
Thank God 1UP is gone. I don't think I've ever witnessed a more pretentious assortment of people. I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion but thats how I always saw it and those camera cuts during any sort of game talk were unbearable. Yes, yes lets zoom in on someones hands, this is good shit, less gameplay, just awkward closeups.
