My mom is putting an order into thinkgeek and she offered to get me an early Christmas present, since she is joining the rest of my family in Qatar at the end of the month and hopes that I will get it before she goes. She said under a hundred bucks.

I have narrowed it down to these 4 things. I could probably get her to buy two of the cheaper ones, but I don't want to push it because she is paying for my education and food etc.

So, what do you think?

I really do like the Lumadot LED Umbrella and the USB powered batteries, it is personally your choice but i go with those. Your mom would still have a little cash left over and i see you actually benefiting often from those two things. All tho, i don't know where you live to determine how often you would use that Umbrella.

I live in Nova Scotia, where an umbrella is a necessary piece of equipment. I think you are right. I'll probably run with those.

DICE. :D

How much tabletop gaming do you do?

#6 Posted by nintendoeats (5975 posts) -
@jim_dandy: Enough.

Though a set of 30 D6 would be better, since I tend to do more Warhammer than RPGs.

But that's besides the point.

@nintendoeats:  I think the fancy dice aren't really that great to be honest. They seem overpriced.

The umbrella makes you an easy target for airstrikes or alien abduction.

Get the other stuff, and get your dice from:   http://www.gamestation.net/

30x square-cornered 16mm D6 would cost you about six bucks + shipping.

If you have a HTPC that keyboard w/ trackpad looks excellent.

Can you only get one thing? The batteries look pretty cool, that's probably what I'd choose from those 4.

I like the wireless keyboard and the usb batteries...
it depends on which one will be the most useful

No, don't get that umbrella, get the Blade Runner umbrella, those are so much cooler, plus bonus points for a good movie reference. Oh look, they sell them on thinkgeek too!

You'll be the king of lighted umbrellas. Also... that keyboard's really bitchin' but do you have a real practical use for it, or are you just nerding out over it?

@XII_Sniper:  My reasoning with the keyboard is that I often have music or a video playing while doing something else in my room (such as playing a game...)  the keyboard is a simple way to control all of that stuff without, you know, standing. Its essentially a laziness accomplice. And I am nerding out over it.

Yeah that umbrella rules but...man...they are both so awesome.

For example, right now I am not feeling well so I am lying on the couch watching a quick look. In order to pause and unpause it I have to get up, hwihc hella sucks. With that keyboard I could be writing this post while sitting down!
