Hey y'all, I'm trying to delete the predictive search history on Chrome but I can't for the life of me work out how to do it. Clearing all browsing history in the settings doesn't do it . It's almost as if I can do anything BUT remove it. Any help?

Go to Settings, then click on the link for Show advanced settings at the bottom of the options, then in Privacy section uncheck the box next to "Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar".

If you mean the "Omnibox" to delete entries get the predicted website that you want to delete to appear in the field then with your arrow keys highlight it and hold shift then press the delete key. Keep in mind that you can't delete entries in the omnibox if you still have that said URL in your browsing history still.
Throw the computer in a fire. That should do it.

Speaking of using Chrome, I just realised when I type in Giantbomb it gives me an option to press Tab to search on the Giantbomb database. Was this always there or was it recently added?

Now the shit's invisible.
Also, that's just kind of a built in thing with Chrome isn't it?
Use sandboxie. It also keeps out viruses.
@probablytuna: It's been there for a while, at least a year I think, probably longer. Kind of handy feature, when I remember about it.

I always try to beat it and finish typing and hitting Enter before anything pops up. It makes me feel like the browser is being a pretentious asshole by thinking it knows what I want to search. Then I realize I'm in the wrong in this relationship because, in the end, they are always right.

I've done this and it does nothing. The old searches remain as do new ones.
And yes, of course I've got something to hide! I wouldn't be asking if that wasn't the case. Come on, fellas.
(Trying to avoid gf from accidentally seeing certain searches to be precise)

Was it butt stuff? It was butt stuff, right? Weird butt stuff. Things went it, things came out... lesson were learnt, girls became women and couches became stained.
You know, they made incognito mode for a reason... but anyway. Uninstall your browser then re-install it...

I'm gonna defend myself and say it that wasn't actually porn of any kind..I'm afraid it's far more innocent than that. And fuck no, I don't want to delete my entire browser as a workaround to sort out some simple privacy settings. This stuff is super annoying

Ok ok, so it's not porn. But it's embarrassing enough you don't want your girlfriend to see? Some kind of fungus or weird discharge is my guess.
In any case, deleting a browser may be far less annoying then having to explain whatever you searched to her...
Ctril + shift + delete --> then obliterate everything from the beginning of time ... if that doesn't work you're shit out of luck.
...
...
...
Was it fungus?

Now if you highlight the whole thing it looks like a 3D room!
I'm pretty sure some history and predictive searching is stores under your google account's history, and not the history of your actual browser. those are two seperate things you have to clear. you can check out your account history from the google homepage drop-down menu.
Disabling "Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar" in the advanced settings doesn't fix it?
I'm assuming it's for a gift or something...
My web history has been disabled forever, and I can't find anything else in the gmail settings which corresponds to this. ARGH!
