Not sure if anybodys seen this but friend of the site John Carpenter now makes music, a whole album in fact. This is the video for the first single and it's pretty weird... he also uses an Oculus Rift in it so that's cool.
It's pretty cool sounding.

This is very reminiscent of the soundtracks he did for his own movies. Better than what I expected. It's pretty cool.
@fear_the_booboo: The album is called Lost Themes so that kinda makes sense actually
He's made music for years. He composed the music for a lot of his movies- at least several of the older ones.
But ya, that's cool.
Edit: Ya, it reminds me of his other stuff. He seems to be the only one with that sound. It's the same kind of thing that the music in Mass Effect was emulating- John Carpenter's style I mean.
Yeah, he's been making music since the 70's at least.
He's also written video game music - he composed the soundtrack for the PS1 game Sentinel Returns in 1998.
This is so weird and so great. Night is one of the best two tracks on the album, it's a little Prince of Darkness-y. I don't think the whole album is consistently great though, but overall good. I think it's funny that he said somewhere that he wasn't interested in the Oculus at all. ha.
I had no idea there was a music video made for this album (which will be in my top ten by the end of the year, for sure). Thanks.
Not going to tell you that there's no John Carpenter in Mass Effect, but I'd say they're mostly trying to emulate Vangelis, who did the music to Blade Runner.

Lost Themes is quite possibly the best album I have heard in a long time. I'm surprised folks haven't heard about it sooner. I've been putting this on my play list when I jog. I recently just picked up his Halloween III, damn his music is so much fun.
Wow that is a cool track, and a cool video too
FYI he wrote the soundtrack for Sentinel Returns back in the late 90s, and that was also fucking awesome. Edit: I see someone beat me to that little tidbit.
I need to look into getting this album, I reckon.
What a guy.

I'd say it's a lot of John Carpenter and Front 242, filtered through the general sound of Vangelis' soundtracks.
