EDIT: Wow, and the delivery date for the actual hoverboard is October 2015. Great Scott!! I don't know what to make of the actual product based on that short video though, I guess it's still in early development. If it's awesome I'm dropping all my other career options and devoting myself to a professional hoverboarding life.

You kinda need a good conductive surface under you. Eh, not really that novel (tho a clever variation of mag-lev). Essentially you only require an electromagnet on one object that can induce a field on a particular type of surface next to it. So unless your entire town is made out of nicely conductive metal you wont be going anywhere on it.

Holy shit, this is pretty cool.

It's cute, but ultimately it's not the hoverboard we want if it only works on one type of surface.

Honestly, Maglev Trains that we already have in practical use are more mind blowing than this. Those trains still blow my mind! Floating trains people!
