Sadly, we all can't have kick ass jobs like the fine folks at GB. Bills have to be paid nonetheless. So, what do you do? Are you happy with your job, currently in school getting ready for the real world, or are you just a lazy bastard?
Guess I will start it off. I work for a (relatively) large discount brokerage, where I am a Junior Portfolio Manager. In layman's terms, I maintain equity accounts for retail investors. Hope to go back to school soon and get a Master's in advanced derivatives. Not the most glamorous job in the world, but I enjoy it.
So how about you? I am interested in seeing what people on GB do for a living.
Sorry if a topic like this exists, I could not find one.
How do you pay the bills?
I work in a bank branch and have to file and check the reports each day, which are basically printed records of everything done in the branch the previous day - I have to make sure we have the appropriate paper work for things, get people to sign for anything they did and make sure all the branch settlement accounts are balanced; if they aren't, I have to find out why and make them balance. In addition to that I have to work as a teller for a large portion of the day and answer the phones when I can.
Not happy with my job, but I'm still not 100% sure what I want to do so I'll stay until I figure that out.
In sales for the world's largest food manufacturer.
"Are you happy with your job..."Hahaha, nope.
I work at McDonald's since I'm in a small town and what few businesses are around here are on a hiring freeze. I just started on May 4, but I can already tell I don't think I can stand this job for much more than a few months.
Did anyone out there have a first job that was comparably shitty to mine?

I'm actually not working at all currently. I'm attending therapy to get over an annoying anxiety disorder that makes it difficult for me to hold or even look for a job.
"If you are interested in finance jakob, you should become a stock broker. Put your salesman skills to the test with the ungodly amount of cold calling you have to do to begin."To quote Kevin Spacey:

My gf's brother also suffers from anxiety, he dreads even leaving his house. I hope you get that worked out!

"Currently i am a full time student at UNR, probably will work at walmart over the summer lol"I own a good chunk of WMT shares, help me out! :)
Full time college student right now, but I also earn money on the side TFing a math course. Very stress free and awesome fun, and some of the students are cool people, so I have no complaints (and will hopefully continue to TF the rest of college).
Also will get paid to do a math research internship over the summer (getting paid to just sit around and think all day? hurray!).
I really need a new laptop (this one is very blah for gaming...) so these are good opportunities to save up...
I'm an accountant in commercial real estate. The job's been pretty crazy for the past year (surprise!), but I enjoy it. I'm toying with the idea of getting my CPA...but it's hard to be motivated since it won't help me advance, and the firm probably won't reimburse the several hundreds of dollars in annual fees required to retain my license.
I am a martial arts instructor at the moment. Doesn't pay for very well and is pretty stressful. The co-workers make up for it though.
I used to be a network administrator / computer technician. The job started off great but kept getting worse over the years. It was really cutting in to my creativity too. I was not a happy person, to say the least.
I quit that job and now I'm working on making it as a music producer. I also dabble in real estate.
I am an Inwards supervisor for a large Packaging company in New Zealand.
Its a good job, Nice pay good benefits, I prefer my old position though.
Inwards supervisor at a company called Linfox Distribution, That was a good job, and I miss it.
I was fit and I also got to operate a twenty tonne container fork hoist.
Before that I worked as head yardman at Hynds Pipe Systems for three years Now that was a good job. I have so many good stories from Hynds.
I'm a tour guide in a cave. Pretty fun and exciting, if you ask me. Though I don't get paid nearly enough for what I do, but I do get tips.
I am currently a student in college, so I don't have to worry about bills until after I graduate next spring. I have had jobs on campus(TA then in the Career Connection office), but I have had no luck finding jobs the past two summers. I had to cancel my subscription to Xbox Live this summer(I just recently fought to get my $50 back because they atuo charged me for the next yeat last week even though I told them not to). My birthday is tomorrow, so I have some more cash, but that will probably be saved up or be spent on the Python programming book I have been wanting to buy. I know there are free tutorials online, but I feel much better learning from a physical book than starring at a computer screen(I alread spend enough my time doing that while doing the work I learn from the books).
" I'm a high school student and right now I'm basically relaxing looking for a part time job to bring in some cash. I also buy stuff from my friends for cheap and sell them online for more money. "Sounds like you should look into my field, trading stock! Same concept, a hell of a lot more to it though :p

Video Editor / Machine Room Operator.
Bills are generally travel expenses, student loan and games fortunately for now. Still at home for a little bit longer.
