I started saving all of my ticket stubs in a small Converse shoe box, mostly to keep track of what I've seen during the year. I'm an avid film guy, (almost as bad with my snobbery in film as I am with music) so I should note that these are JUST the movies I've seen in theatres this year. (I'm counting everything from the beginning of the year as well) I'll rate the movies one by one. (Note: These are NOT in order of when I saw them, but I did see most of these movies around their first week of release, or in some cases such as The Wrestler, the first day they became available in NYC)

1.Slumdog Millionaire - I saw this on a date in nine degree New York-Winter weather. This was within the first week of its theatrical release, before anyone knew of the Oscar hype it was going to get in the upcoming months. I loved it at the time, but I had to constantly look over at my date for the first half hour. (I took a girl to see Sweeney Todd once and she fell asleep twice...it's sort of a pet-peeve when a girl falls asleep during a movie I've paid for) I was nearly shouting for the girl to pick up the phone at the end...jeez. Anyway, did it deserve Best Picture? Yes, it did, although it may not be the masterpiece I thought it was when I first saw it. I'll give Slumdog an 8/10

2. Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist - I actually saw this in theatres twice; one of the times was with my former friend at her College upstate, and then I saw it again with my ex and a group of friends. The worst part of that was having to act as if I never saw the movie before, as one of our friends was using his AMC waivers to get us all in for free. Honestly, I didn't think it was bad. Sometimes Michael Cera can play an alright teen character, and the girl was pretty good. Mild laugh moments throughout were also welcome. 7/10

3. Tropic Thunder - When a former friend of mine came home from her university, we went out to Manhattan for a steak dinner and Tropic Thunder. I thought it was the best thing Ben Stiller ever had his name attached to. 7/10

4. Drag me to Hell - The scene at the end with the goat made it worth it, but overall, it was nothing more than a decent self-parody of PG-13 horror films. 6/10

5. Watchmen - I am not one of these people who holds the graphic novel in the same regard as a bible. Some prick from IGN called it one of the greatest literary works of the 20th century, hyperbole anyone? Anyway, the graphic novel, ok let's be real here, THE COMIC BOOK, was alright, but this film adaptation was pointless. This film did not need to be made. The girl who played Silk Spectre 2 was awful; Jackie was generic; Dr. Manhattan was even more boring in the movie than he was in the book, and only The Comedian felt right. This was the only movie I ever felt like walking out on. 0/10

6. The Wrestler - I saw this at the Lincoln Center Art Theatre in Manhattan. I was by myself. It was about ten degrees outside. I had to wait outside for nearly two hours because the 6:30 showing was sold out, so I opted for the 8:30. I eventually went into a bookstore and read a book about The Clash for thirty minutes. The rest of the time was spent by playing I Will Possess Your Heart by Death Cab. Hell of a movie though. Before the movie, we all had to wait outside of the actual room; most of the people in the place sat on the floor. I made back and forth trips to the food stand to get a muffin. Yes, this place had muffins, sandwiches, and other real food in addition to Pepsi and Popcorn. But then again, it's an Art theatre, so a certain level of pretentiousness is to be expected. Rourke was great, albeit in a flawed film. I give The Wrestler an 8/10. (Interesting story regarding this one: I actually cut my leg on a piece of glass when getting off of the train in Manhattan, and didn't notice; so as I was going to the theatre, my leg was bleeding the entire time from underneath my slacks. As the movie ended, I wondered why I was in so much pain as I walked...then I lifted my pant leg up and was covered in blood. Just lovely)

7. Adventureland = Great coming of age film that a lot of people missed out on. The girl from Twilight proved that she can act in this one. I saw it with a friend who happens to be female, so that made the mushy parts a tad awkward, but overall, good movie. 8/10

8. The Hangover - Fucking hilarious. Zach G. (I give up trying to spell his name) has been a terrific comedian for AGES, and it's great that he's finally breaking out into film. Too bad he's almost forty though...anyway, Hangover had me laughing every minute or so. "They gave out rings at the Holocaust?" 9/10 (This score reflects my appreciation for a good comedy)

9. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - This was probably my runner-up to Slumdog in the Best Picture race. It was a tad long, and my friend and I could barely walk after we left the theatre, but this was a very well made film. Brad Pitt was great in this, and so was Cate Blanchett. Hell, even Tilda Swinton (who I can't stand) played a good role. One of the most complete movies of last year. 9/10

10. Observe & Report - Saw this with some friends and honestly, I was not ready for how dirty this movie ended up being. The end scene ALONE makes it worth it, but this is really a Seth Rogan showcase. 7/10

11. Zach & Miri make a Porno - Saw this on a date with a girl and we had to leave because she wasn't comfortable with all the nudity; that was the first time I ever walked out on a movie.

12. The Dark Knight - Good comic book film, but overall not the masterpiece of film making everyone made it out to be. However, Heath Ledger was great. This film really put the spotlight on him and I hope it will make people go back to his performance in Brokeback Mountain, which in my opinion, is one of the greatest performances of all time. 9/10 strictly for my enjoyment.

13. Bruno - I laughed a handful of times, (The focus testing scene was brilliant) but a lot of it was lazy stereotype satire and other jokes that didn't work on me. It's worth seeing for the focus test scene and the thing with Ron Paul alone. 6/10

SOOOOOOO, that about rounds out my list; what movies did you guys go out and see this year?

I saw Observe and Report with one of my friends. Yes it's basically all about Seth, but I like the really dark humor the movie had. I don't think a lot of people were expecting that. And yes, the ending was awesome. 5/5

I saw Watchmen (with the same friend) after reading the comic. I don't know, I really liked it. Yes it has it's bad moments, some of the acting is off. I would have to say Jackie Earle Haley was fantastic. He played Rorschach spot on. It looks great. But I guess that's the good thing about movies, everyone has their own opinions. 4/5
I saw Terminator Salvation. It was good. I kind of went into it with maybe to much expectations. They focused a lot on Marcus Wright, the previews made it seem like Christian Bale was going to be the center piece. But he was basically a supporting character. 4/5

I saw Transformers: ROTF. Now I liked it, say what you will. It was what I expected, balls out crazy non sense action. Me and my mom talked about it and we both agree that the story was basically Megan trying to get Shia to say I love you. But it's a Micheal Bay film, he doesn't use scripts or common sense. 3/5

I saw Knowing with my grandma. It wasn't bad. It was probably the only movie I liked with Nicholas Cage. There's one scene with a airplane crash, I almost walked about because it bothered me so much. Now that was a compliment, it was done very well. I'm still thinking about the ending, I can't tell if I liked it or not and it's been 4 months since I have seen it. The ending was done pretty well though. 4/5

That's it. I guess I don't see very many movies I guess. Off to the theaters to see more!

@masterken:

I was not entertained by anything.

I also forgot to note The Reader, which was absolute trash as well.
