Well it's been a long time since I had a car painted, but I paid around $2000-ish for a pretty good paint job. You can definitely get it done for much cheaper, but you will know the difference within 6 months to a year.

The cost depends on a lot of things too, like what type of car it is, primer/clear coat options, and if you want some kind "fancy" color.

It differs depending on where you go, but I'd say between $1000-$2000 dollars. Might be more where you live.

The upper range of that is for the new crystal pearl paint that looks a different color depending on what angle you're looking at the car.

You can lower the cost by preparing the car yourself, but be warned that is a lot of work. Sanding down a car is a long process. Also keep in mind, you get what you pay for.  A good paint job can go a long way.

If you want it to look really good it will probably cost you $2000-$2500 but you might be able to get it cheaper because of the economy.

Its expensive, but depending on the cars your looking at, there might be more than the $2000 difference in price, if thats the case get a ugly yellow car and get it painted. Ugly coloured cars sell for way cheaper because theyre... well ... ugly? :P

Its somewhat situational.

No way I'm paying $2,500 to paint a used car that only costs $7,000 itself.
