How to quit smoking Pt. 9
Welcome to my journey to a smoke free life. Today habit almost got the better of me. All was going fine until the later part of the day when the craving for a cigarette began. I wanted one so badly my throat started to hurt. I already had the money for a pack in my hand and wanted to go out to buy one. But then I came to my senses. I ate about 15 chickenwings instead, drank about 2 liters of cola and watched conan the barbarian, conan the destroyer and the black hole. And now, before I go to sleep, I can look back on another smokeless day with pride. Day number six.

It's not an urban myth that nicotine burns fat and glucogen, it's part of it's function as a stimulant.
I've seen people start smoking again because they were terrified of gaining even more weight.
I suggest monitoring your weight, a regular diet to avoid gluttony and aerobic activities like walking, cycling or playing the wii maybe?
Congrats on one more day smoke free. I can't imagine the level of determination it takes to actually stop smoking. Hang in there. Just try not to substitute one addiction for another... Best wishes.

Also beware of anything you could be replacing the habit with. Something as seemingly innocuous as chewing gum could become a dependancy, and if it has aspartame it's just more bad news. If you must replace the habit with something, do like Eurobum suggests and try to make it a positive compulsion.
But at the same time ... baby steps. You're doing really good. The first couple of days are always the hardest, and you've done that already. Keep it up.
