How Will You Spend Your Income Tax Return?

#1 Posted by PhilESkyline (680 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Looking to use half to start building my gaming PC. The rest will probably be spent on auto repairs, clothing and student loan payments. How about you?

#2 Posted by MariachiMacabre (5355 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

I'm buying a Vita and Persona 4 Golden as a birthday gift to myself.

I've seen the error of my ways.

Buying a house!

Mountain bike. Will be getting back into that hobby this summer. I switched to road biking for a few years. Decided it's boring and I have no more motivation to road bike than I do to jog. So back to the dirt trails for me.

Bought a MacBook Air and paid off two credit cards. They were relatively low balance, tho. Threw a little bit into my savings account for emergencies.

#12 Posted by EarlessShrimp (1130 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Savings/couch. We desperately need a couch. Oh and sneakers because the ones I have are falling apart.

#13 Posted by Quid_Pro_Bono (31 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

@earlessshrimp: I bought my couch from JCP when I worked there and it's awesome, only paid $700 for it (minus employee discounts :D ) You may wanna check them out NOW though, all JCP's are swapping out their furniture stock and bringing in new stuff, so most stuff is clearance + 50% off.

Paying off my computer >.>

#17 Posted by Intro (1035 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Saving it for college upcoming fall. Maybe I'll take some money out this summer and upgrade my PC a little, we'll see if I have the money.

#18 Posted by animathias (1031 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

I payed off my bills, bought a Bass, and upgraded my PC's harddrive. I feel pretty good about it.

#19 Posted by Dagbiker (6362 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

I would rather pay taxes, then get money back, but if you plan well, a year a head, its a nonissue. But planing for life one year a head is never that easy... is it.

#20 Edited by EarlessShrimp (1130 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

@quid_pro_bono: I looked at Jordan's Furniture, I ended up finding an all leather couch for around 500 bucks. Their outlet is absolutely amazing. But, I will have to take a look at JCP!

#21 Posted by TooWalrus (11817 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Dumped it straight into savings. It'll get spent... eventually. Probably on some stupid trip abroad- I haven't left the states in 3 years- it's driving me CRAZY.

Oh, you know. On bills.

#23 Posted by Slax (827 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

New video card and monitor. Maybe a couple games and the save the rest.

#24 Posted by Jrinswand (1661 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

I don't know how much I'm getting back in taxes this year, but I'm pretty sure I've already spent it all.

#25 Posted by RioStarwind (269 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Mostly bills but since pax east is coming up I plan to spend some of it while I'm in Boston.

#26 Edited by Chop (1713 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Nothin' particular. It's just going into my bank account with the rest of my cash. I should probably be stop being frugal for one goddamn second and buy something fun...

#27 Posted by PhilESkyline (680 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

@jrinswand: You don't know because you haven't done your taxes yet or you don't remember what it is?

#28 Posted by JJOR64 (18123 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Got a new webcam and that's it really with it. Saveing the rest for games coming out.

#29 Edited by blueneurosis (32 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

A Lego B-Wing, a few impulsive buys from the RPF Junkyard, and...I'm trying to keep it just to that.

#30 Posted by Hawkerace (179 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Got to save this one, got a sweet BMW from a man who passed away, but haven't been able to keep up with it. One day, one day.

Plus it SMELLS of pussy destroyer. Infact, I might get that as a license plate.

It was my first time doing it on my own and I'm not even sure I did it correctly so who knows if I get anything back at all. Whatever I get back it's all going into paying off credit card bills. I bought a new TV for around that much back in November-ish iirc. So I will say a new TV since the money will be paying around the cost of the TV off my credit cards. I'm really trying to cut back on buying stuff to get my credit cards payed off, but since I'm only working part time I seem to just be about breaking even pay check to pay check and some times going over.

#34 Posted by I_Stay_Puft (1040 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

probably bills and food.

#35 Edited by Oscar__Explosion (1412 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

I would like to use it to buy persona 4 golden and a Vita, but alas I have bills to pay and a savings account that's rather empty at the moment.

#36 Posted by Mercy_ (250 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Some is going towards a new tattoo and the rest is being stowed away in my savings account.

#37 Posted by nerdsbeware (223 posts) - 2 months, 16 days ago

Going straight into the bank. We just spent a ton of money fixing up our house from Hurricane Sandy damage, as well as getting a whole new AC/Furnace put in so time to refill the ole bank account. Actually we have to finish the master bathroom, so maybe that but it won't cost much.

Just bought a new video card that came with free Steam keys for Tomb Raider and Bioshock: Infinite, still have to finish Dead Space 3 and have a $20 credit on Amazon from buying my wife SimCity. Pretty set when it comes to games, and that would have been the only other place the money went!

#38 Posted by Sanity (1508 posts) - 2 months, 16 days ago

Wont get much back honestly... but if i get 300-400 bucks i'll pay for my car insurance for 6 months.

#39 Posted by Butano (1407 posts) - 2 months, 16 days ago
