You're not weird. I dunno.

#3 Posted by Coolarman (662 posts) -

its just that people are starting to get down on Eminem but i still like him. I don't know

#4 Posted by Deadlydog (139 posts) -

He is a lyrical genius, whats not to like?

@coolarman: Fuck those people! Like what you like. Eminem likes to get that Interscope money, and Jimmy Iovine doesn't hate him yet, like 50.

And Bezerk sounds alright.

That's cool, you can like whatever you want. I don't mind Eminem, I will listen to his music.

#8 Edited by Milkman (16527 posts) -

You can like whatever you want but personally, I hated Relapse, hated Recovery even more and think both of the new singles are terrible.

I still like him, but personally, I feel like he's, for lack of a better word, struggling to "still be Eminem" in an age where all people care about is punchlines and singles. I'm not trying to be all like "hip hop is dead" and blah blah blah because there's still a lot of great motherfuckin artists out there, but there are infinitely more terrible. dumb artists and they're the ones getting most of the radio space, Youtube views, and coverage in general.

Em, is still pretty decent his shit got pretty terrible for awhile when he was strung out on drugs and had all that dumb drama with Mariah and shit but every since Recovery he's been doing some cool shit.

Love this song off of Recovery still:

I still like Eminem quite a bit. I thought that last Bat Meets Evil album was pretty good.

#16 Edited by ArtisanBreads (3749 posts) -

Pretty tired of both his yelling flow he has now and his continued "I'm not afraid"/"underdog" lyrics... dude you are Eminem these songs are dumb and boring and you're not an underdog or taking a stand against anything. I liked him more when he was fun... maybe he's going back to that but the new single was bad.

But then again I'm a guy who thinks his best work is Infinite so take my opinion in the minority it probably is.

This is so awesome (mainly because I hate this song)

This is true. Royce really brought the fun out of him in a way he hasn't had in a while... Royce is a great rapper.

This song is particularly great I think:

Hell: The Sequel was great. Recovery had too much screaming and the Survivor song is no different. Hopefully he stops that.

I can't think of any technical/rappidy rap verses that are even close to his old stuff, he should rely more on story-based verses.

#18 Posted by TooWalrus (13137 posts) -

Eminem's good stuff, guy.

#20 Posted by stryker1121 (1345 posts) -

Been down on Eminem since Encore after listening to MM LP and Eminem Show non-stop. Didn't like his goofier stuff much and on Recovery there were like three songs w/ Michael J Fox jokes..for whatever reason it just "rubbed me wrong" (said in Mike from Breaking Bad's world-weary voice) and I haven't listened to him much since. But..was going through my song list the other day and "Kill You" came up, and it made me want to get back int Em.

People don't like Eminem? Would never have guessed that from his record sales. He is the only hip hop artist that I can stand listing to.

#22 Posted by FunkasaurasRex (847 posts) -

He was good like a million years ago. His last two albums were bad.

Tons of people vocally hate Jusin Beiber and Lil Wayne online (check the comments of basically any 90's hip hop song on youtube) yet both sell buttloads. So make of that what you will. Vocal minority.

Those first three LPs were great, but they are also kind of records of their time. I dunno. Some albums are timeless no matter what the year, but some albums I listen to less and less as time goes on. It doesn't help that his last few albums weren't that great, either, in my opinion.

I always associated Eminem with TRL/Carson Daly, Limp Bizkit, boy bands, and female pop stars of the time. Maybe that's why? I know hip-hop has always been about name-dropping, but it's weird listening to a song where he's rapping about Fred Durst and Carson Daly, making Tom Green references, or his beef with Moby from ten years ago. Even serious songs like "Cleanin' Out My Closet" sound lame after the fact.

Maybe I'm just too old now?

Like what you like.

I respect what he did, and he dropped 2 classic albums (arguably 3) but he can't even keep up with royce anymore, i mean royce is one of the best writers in the game but eminem used to make him sound average.

if he wasn't eminem, i don't think he would sell records at all anymore, let alone at the level he does. Can't hate on him though, he still dropped one of my favorite albums of all time.

I like the green one.

I absolutely loved Recovery.

I always get confused between Eminem, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit.

I do not know why

#29 Posted by joshthebear (2700 posts) -

Everything since the Marshall Mathers LP has been pretty terrible.

#30 Posted by OfficeGamer (1087 posts) -

How fucking weird is it that 20 seconds after I put "Not Afraid" on, I came online and saw this thread?

Damn!

#31 Edited by monkey523 (177 posts) -

As for his newer stuff, I liked Relapse. There were a few stinkers, but for the most part it was good. Everything on Recovery sounded so over-produced and boring. The "Despicable" freestyle that came out pre-release was fucking dope though.

I want to be optimistic about MMEP2, but I don't know. Berzerk is just alright, and Survival sounds like a bad mashup with some joan jett song. The singles from Relapse weren't my favorites either, so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

You should never feel bad about liking the things you like. Unless it's like weird porn or Frog Fractions.

I am a big fan of eminem but his latest song has me worried.

His last albums are on the edge for me.

He can never get back to the days of his first 3 albums. That eminem we will never see again.

But..i will buy his new album

#36 Posted by CaLe (3911 posts) -

He's a good boy -- well mannered and has a sense of purpose to himself.

#38 Posted by ShaggE (6331 posts) -

He'll never match the genius of Marshall Mathers LP again unless an absolute miracle happens, but he's still one of the greatest rappers out there. Even the much-hated Relapse had its share of great tracks. (and Encore was much worse, at that... yet even that album knocked out some bangers)

Also, Recovery was a great album. I'm not sure why it's so maligned. Yeah, it's a departure and a little bit too navel-gazey, but his delivery is incredible. I just wish he could tap back into that genuine anger and sincerity that made MMLP so amazing. He feeds off of controversy, and nobody's (publicly) offended by him anymore.

#39 Posted by Everyones_A_Critic (6287 posts) -

He's my favorite rapper ever and MMLP is my favorite album of all time but his last two singles (the stupid call of duty song and Berzerk) have been awful. I respect the fact that on Recovery he admitted Encore and Relapse weren't his best work, but I think he might've taken fans' requests to return to his old style a bit too seriously. A 40 year old with his hair dyed blonde making fun of celebrities is just kinda desperate at this point. I'm still gonna give the album a fair shake but I'm really not getting my hopes up for it. Honestly, the new Hopsin album is probably gonna sound more like Eminem than the new Eminem album will. Still, MMLP2 will probably be better than those piece of shit D12 mixtapes without Em that dropped a few years ago. God those were fucking terrible.

This song goes hard as fuck. It just sucks that they wasted such dope verses and a dope beat on such a shitty hook that just comes off as out of place. It's just Em and Royce rapping their asses off and then out of nowhere some bitch is whining about poverty.

#40 Edited by Harkat (1100 posts) -

Eminem nowadays has this fucking whiteboi Linkin Park emo anger style. Especially the god-awful Call of Duty tune. It sounds stupid. Much prefer his old stuff.

I didn't think much of Relapse or Recovery.

I like his verse in What's The Difference. And his early rap battle and radio show stuff.

#47 Posted by ProfessorK (816 posts) -

It's funny, I very much still like Em,still love his 1st 2 albums to death, but I've also noticed that he has reached that status where noone really shit talks him, like Dre or Snoop (cept when he does kooky shit like hot pockets ads). I guess it's a testament to the quality of his work. Even 8 Mile isn't shit on, most just say it was alright and move on.

#49 Edited by Blu3V3nom07 (4157 posts) -

So here's that Bezerk preview. I'm not gonna sit here and post its own thread when the final video comes out. So fuck it!

#50 Posted by Apparatus_Unearth (3105 posts) -

Not a fan of anything past Encore but his early stuff is genius.
