I would say that I only eat two no matter what, but that's a damn lie.

Depends on how big they are. If they're the standard buttermilk kind you get in most restaurants, I just get two. But my mom makes smaller pancakes that aren't buttermilk and taste way better - I like to have at least 5 or 6 of those and usually can go for more.

Since I'm Central European, pencakes mean this to me and I could eat like 6-8 of these.

There's somewhere where pancake doesn't mean that? The top one anyway, the other two look weird.

America, Canada.

I thought they called those thick things hotcakes? Or is that just certain places?

Maybe in some places, but the common term is pancake.

Oh ok, I have only been to Florida and Cali/Nevada, and I think most places referred to them as hotcakes? I didn't pay too much attention though.

I've lived in Florida all my life. Pancake is the standard name for them here. I've never heard a Floridian refer to them as hotcakes, not to say those people don't exist.

I'm originally from the Northeast US but I live in Florida now and like JP_Russell said, practically everyone here calls them pancakes. Now I have heard them called hotcakes and even griddle-cakes, but that's in other Southern US states. Flapjacks is another term but I've never heard anyone actually use it when ordering. Florida is a bit different than most of the south because so many of its residents are from other parts of the US. Now if you were looking to order what Europeans call pancakes, I think you'd need to ask for crapes.

South Carolina here. Never heard them referred as hotcakes. Occasionally I get someone calling them flapjacks, and I stare them down until they wet themselves and leave in utter embarrassment.

Those people are basically animals.

@Meowshi: Man what? Flapjacks and pancakes aren't even made of the same thing. That's crazy. Why would people do that?

@AlexW00d: Flapjacks and pancakes are the same thing here. Flapjack is just a very old name for them that normal people don't use anymore.

It really depends. The size I usually eat I think 4? Though I've had some stupid large ones where I can barely go through one.

Once upon a time though... I could eat ridicolous amounts of food. I'm talking like 3 full size pizzas or 12-15 pancakes. That can not have been healthy.

The correct answer is "three".

For best results, I like some melted butter between the top and middle pancakes, and just a drizzle of syrup on top, just enough syrup to remind my tastebuds "hey, syrup."

Huh, weird. Everywhere else a flapjack is a cake made of oats and honey/syrup. I am looking at some right now. They're gooooood.

Oh my God, even just imagining this amount of food makes me a little bit ill.

the number of the pancakes is not what is important, it is how large are the pancakes, as they are wildly inconsistent based on who's making them.

As many fucking pancakes as I can fit.

They only seem to come once a year, we must not waste them.

If i go to the states i always try to eat some pancakes with syrup. I can barely finish one of them. Honestly don't understand how people can shovel a stack of them into their mouths.

I can eat plenty delicious crepes though.

@AlexanderSheen: Yeah, it's disgusting. Can't do it anymore. Weirdest thing though, I could eat stuff like that and never get fat. I'm fatter NOW, when I eat a tenth of that... Age isn't fair.

I never have pancakes as a meal in itself, it's mostly a dessert. So about 3-4 would be the right answer. I'm weird though and prefer eating them with just sugar.

If they are like 4-5 inches in diameter, usually 2-4. If they are like 6 inches or greater, usually 2 at most.
