My gerbils that I got as pets (two males like you're supposed to) are now constantly fighting (tried to intervene but no use) even though they got along weeks ago. It has now gotten to the point where I just want one of them to bite the others' head off and get it over with. It's driving me insane! What would you feel if you were in this situation?
Is it bad to think this?

I'm actually in this situation every day with my dogs at home. But I imagine socialization with dogs is different than with gerbils. That being said, I don't want to see someone rip someone else's head off, but there are times I wish one of my dogs would kick the others' ass good enough so there is no more question of who is the pack leader.

I knew somebody who's two male gerbils got into a duel to the death and one ended up tearing open the others stomach or something equally gory.

I don't have another tank to put them into so I just used a book to separate them for the time while I make a trip up to Pets FUCKING Mart.
I dont think you want that. As a kid we accidently got a male and female gerbil. So they fucked like crazy and eventually the mother gave birth to about 8 other gerbils. We then separated the male and female to prevent more offspring. Well one day I go to refill the water for the mom and the children to find one of the babies has had its head bitten off from the mother. I was about 8 at the time. Lets just say I never bought gerbils again.

I had two rats who did exactly the same thing. One of them was younger than the other, so in the end we have to take her back. Just give it to someone.
I kinda got lucky with my guinea pigs. When I initially bought my second one (which was about a year younger than my first), the older one would constantly rumble at him and mount him to show dominance. Thankfully they never actually tried to bite each other. Have had them for a couple years and now they are best friends, always playing and grooming each other. Anyways if their fighting gets really bad you'll have to take one back. Not much you can do if they don't like each other.
