So I have this friend you see. He has sort of had a hard time talking about this to most people in his life seeing as he doesn't want to be judged by them and is kind of embarrassed by the situation entirely. Lets call my friend Bob for the sake of secrecy and lets just accept that Bob is not the best at setting and achieving his goals in life.
When Bob was in high school all Bob did was fly though most of it and slack off because he felt that everything would work itself out in the end. Bob never had anyone to push him or to set boundaries for him and though Bob takes full responsibility for where he is in life, he can't help but feel a little cheated.
Bob never had much stability as a kid, seeing as he moved twice a year and never had time to make real friends or develop a lot of traits that most of his peers have. He was just left alone to do whatever he felt was best for himself and being the naive kid that he was he chose to do the bare minimum and now is stuck in life limbo.
Bob never graduated high school even though he never dropped out. He was short a mere 30 credits from graduating, but didn't care about that because he found a well paying job. This job that Bob found however has caused him much stress seeing as it is an "under the table" type of job where he doesn't have to pay taxes, but he also has no benefits such as medical and work benefits. Drained of any and all passion still in him, the job has left him with all those "What Ifs?" that middle aged men seem to ask themselves. Bob is now 19 and is about to be fired from this job because of his foolish mistake to allow certain people to do certain things while turning a blind eye. What is Bob left with now?
Nothing. No insurance, no job, no experience, no education, nothing at all. Bob looked into the military as a last resort and found out that people with asthma are rejected, which sucks because I.... Bob has asthma. What do you suggest Bob do?
Bob is thinking to go back to school and maybe get a grant, but Bob has no idea where to start or what to expect. Bob isn't exactly proud of where he is right now, but he doesn't believe that all hope is lost. What do you suggest Bob do?
PS. Prostitution and selling drugs are out of the question... for now.
