I've enjoyed watching Game of Thrones so far, it's fantastic but one thing that's been kinda annoying me are the constant sex scenes .For me they seem to break the pacing , half of them get in the way of the story and are pointless .Now I am 22 year old single dude with a laptop in his room so I've watched some ,I mean alot of porn so it's nothing to do with being squeemish,Iit just seems like over kill for a series that doesn't need that much, and I'm getting really bored by them.Did Theon really need to fuck that one on the boat before feeling up his own sister ?

.Maybe I just don't see the point , is it cause they can? do any of you guys and girls agree or disagree?

I should clear something up here, I'm from and live in Ireland and we don't have HBO so all these shows like Spartacus and True Blood are not advertised very much and I haven't seen them .

It's HBO. And it's source material is aimed at nerds, so yes.

Theon is supposed to be a pig that'll fuck anything that moves. Anyway, Season 2 is very light on sex past that episode.

That's how the books were written I'd imagine. Mr. Martin likes doggystyle.

Plus there needed to be a lot of fucking back in those times to keep the population going.

I'd say it's just HBO going for ratings. The books don't play up the incest or just general sexuality as much as the show does. Though, every chapter with that dwarf he's pretty busy having a boner 24/7.

There is definitely a lot of sex, but I never feel that it gets in the way.

No, it's not just for 'nerds' that's just how the books were written. Even in the books it starts becoming too much and it makes you wonder what type of person Martin is....

The sex is in the books so why not? It does not really break the pacing and there are not really that many, I would almost say its the one series where it does not feel so random as any other series, that just have them because they can. Like True Blood where it is almost like a fucking softcore porn, no joke. Its so  pornish that I would not show that series to my mom or dad but I would show them game of thrones.

They should just change it to "A Game of Fucking Thrones", and instead of swords the throne is made of dildos.

I can imagine the writers on the show getting notes from the executives from HBO just saying "more sex?"

There was detailed incest in the books... how many chapters into the first one?

It also pretty explicitly explained how Daenerys first time was in front of the whole tribe, or how her brother would torture her by twisting her nipples. Though I actually felt her first time was handled better than it was in the show. The show made it look like rape, while the books described it as rough and painful, but done with consent and ritual. Oh, then the tribe starts raping the whole town near the end of the first novel. Admittedly I stopped watching the show after 6 episodes because it bored me compared to the book, so I have no idea how they did that scene on the show. They actually show the woman getting raped on the pile of her dead neighbors?

I think it's too much, but I still love the show. The violence is just as graphic as the nudity so its hard to complain, although some of the nudity just seems to come out of nowhere and have no story relevance. When it has story relevance it's bearable.

No, they just cut out all the underage sex that was in the books and replaced it with more good ol' American girl on girl. I'm okay with that. Though it is a little embarrassing when I'm loudly watching Game of Thrones and a scene comes up that sounds less like a medieval fantasy drama and more like Debbie does the Dothraki.

Nope - there's never enough sex in anything. I'm a firm believer in bringing pornographic payoff to mainstream media. Rough graphic sex everytime everywhere - even the evening news!

I don't remember too many sex scenes in Season 2, as long as each episode doesn't have 3-4 of them i'm good. As much as i like to see tits and ass, i have taken my self in actually telling my wife how i wish they would just go on with the fucking story instead of wasting 5 minutes of shots of people slowly undressing each other.

Drop the damn linen and fuck already, i want more story before the episode ends.

Yeah, but I generally walk away or fiddle with my iPad while it happens. It's uncomfortable to watch half of them alone, let alone with friends and my wife.

No. They don't show half as many sex scenes as were written into the book and the stuff they do show fits pretty well.

Be thankful they do this - one part of the second book involving a tavern master's daughter (involving Gregor Clegane's brother "The Mountain") would've got the show taken off television.

Still kinda funny how comfortable people are with gratuitous violence compared to a couple of people just having a good old fuck.

Also, the latest episode of Game of Thrones (Battle of the Blackwater) was one of the best episodes of TV I have ever seen.  I thought they were gonna fuck it up for sure.

Just because there is sex doesn't make it 'perverse'. If it fits into the feel of the environment, then it's not out of place.

I don't mind sex scenes usually but that's kind of the impression I got too, the few episodes of it I watched. Same goes for.. Rome? I think it was called? Maybe I'm thinking of another series. But that had a bunch of sex scenes too.

You think there's too much sex? Theres' a scene in the books where a 14 years old girl is raped by 50 guys in the street and gets pregnant. Another where a tavern girl is raped by 6 guys in front of her father and after her brother is killer by the same guys. Almost certain that those scenes will not be in the show.

Edit: Dammit you beat me to it.

Way too much sex in every TV show and movie. I think I've only seen one movie ever where the sex scene actually had a place and wasn't just there because yo look, boobs. It was Team America.

Production values were awesome, but there is so much character development crammed in there too.  Whether it was reinforcing what we already knew about them, or showing why certain characters evolve in the way they do, there is barely a wasted second.  The tension in the final scene was incredible, even though I already knew how it was going to go down from the books.

This episode took it from a 'you should probably watch Game of Thrones' to a 'you need to watch Game of Thrones' recommendation from me.

Yeah, this is nothing compared to Spartacus.

This basicly.

That serie had me go"hé" quite a few times. There is is even more noticeable cause at times i feel it's like, here let these 2 characters have a conversation. But! let em do it while bathing and being washed by slaves!

In a way this is just to not have em stand around but it is a lot more noticeable in Spartacus. There is quite a bit in both i just feel that on average game of thrones uses is better as a way to establish characters or a certain tone.

(but the violence and action is Spartacus is incredibly stupid aswell, i was really bummed out when game of thrones also did some impossible things in the siege)

When everyone was talking about how much sex there was in the show I expected it to be more gratuitous like it is in Spartacus or something. But it's mostly contextual so it's fine.

@Paul_Is_Drunk: I'd completely removed the Daenarys scene from my mind, but I don't recall the incest early on in the first book being all that graphic. Mostly it's just that silly dwarf always rocking a hard on that I remember.

Trust me, they toned it down for television. People saying there's more sex in the series than in the books must've stopped reading after A Game Of Thrones. Either that, or the sex just sticks out a lot more on TV - a sex scene typically takes longer than reading two paragraphs in a book. Add group watching to the mix and sex on TV tends to get a bit more noticable - and awkward. I know I get up to grab a drink while watching GoT and a long sex scene (Littlefinger's lesbians!) comes up, seeing as my girlfriend likes to rest her head on my lap. Just saying, you guys. You know what I'm talking about.

Boners is what I'm talking about.

But yeah, books. Pretty bad stuff. Rape, incest, and a lot of it with minors. Never would've aired if adapted literally.

Yes, yes indeed, they are terribly scarce I'm afraid.

But to be serious, no, sex is a part of human life, just like we see the verbal fighting and clash of swords and romance and people pissing over high walls and old grannies telling stories and little boys getting burned, we should see people fucking, straight or gay.

There isn't too much sex in GoT, it's the other way around, there's very little sex in TV shows, which makes you think sex is bad because you're not used to it (on TV).

You guys are just lucky they aged up all the characters.

If not we'd all be put on FBI watchlists just for watching the show. Dany is fourteen in the books and the author does not let that stop him from including her in explicit sex scenes.

Anyway I watch for the pretty green explosions:
