While watching Death Note I stumbled across the band Maximum The Hormone, who does the second intro song. Anyway I would like some suggestions for bands similar to them. Really the only other band like them that I know would be The Mad Capsule Markets. The bands don't have to be specifically Japanese.

For those of you that want to know what the second opening is, here it is.  Make sure you have your volume turned down or it will blow your speakers.

Dir en grey.

Their early stuff verges more on a mix between visual kei and punk (Missa EP - Kisou), their middle stuff is more progressive mixed with industrial metal (Six Ugly EP - Withering to Death), and their more recent stuff is a mix between raw metal, thrash, and a tiny injection of black metal (Marrow of a Bone - Higashesa to... Single).  With that variety of styles they probably have something that would interest you, and honestly the only two Japanese bands I care about are MTH and Diru even though I should give more a chance.

Some recommended songs to check out which cover most of these styles (in chronological order) would be: Zan, Embryo, Obscure (which has my favorite music video), Clever Sleazoid, Dozing Green, and Hageshisa to...

Probably not what you're after, but I just wanted to post this slice of my teenage years. Dead Sun Rising by Zeni Geva (starting at 2:38) is still one of my all time fave songs.

@SumDeus: It's actually a really bad recording of it, but I guess the song structure's the same. The album version's a lot clearer and crisper, with a lot more balls and more defined guitar work. Pity I can't seem to locate the official film clip anywhere, though.

@Unknown_Pleasures: Mono is a bit slow for my taste, but some of their stuff reminds me of Sigur Ros and some Radiohead which is a very very good thing.

I think it's just Fish Action.

EDIT: Yeah, as Mourne's indicated, you'd still call it SakanaAction. I thought you were asking what it meant.

When I initially read the title maximum the hormone came to my head already. My exposure wasn't from Deathnote however (it was some web show), so i bring you.

Bulldog Mansion.  I think one of their songs was on this flash animation about

bunny/cat interracial relationships

and that's why I have one of their songs.

@SumDeus: Yeah, and those songs barely scratched the surface as to how varied they can be.  I think that the best record to start out with is Vulgar since it's the most diverse and most well put together album they have even if I prefer some of the harder stuff they've been doing the past few years. .

I listened to music in the 90s, US ANIME NINETIES.

So instead of any of those bands, I will post something else entirely.

Probably not what you had in mind, but that's how I roll.

I'm amazed that no one has suggested Melt-Banana. They are a noise rock band from the 90's endorsed by bands like Sonic Youth, and No Age.

Electric Eel Shock are my favourites. You don't get many bands with drummers who play naked with a sock to cover their modesty and also plays with 4 drumsticks .

They're really in their element when they play live though.
