Poll Kettle Chips or Oven Baked Chips (184 votes)

Kettle 71%
Oven Baked 17%
I don't want to put either of those in my body 12%

I've heard that both kettle chips and oven baked chips are supposedly healthier than your average potato chip. I've heard that kettle is the healthier of the two but a lot of people hate them for their density and tendency to fold into themselves. I think Oven Baked is the midpoint between kettle and regular in terms of healthiness(?) so it would probably taste good but not as good as a regular potato chip.

The only chips I ever eat are tortilla chips, and only in service of a dip.

Anyone who is trying to eat "healthy" chips is missing the point.

Kettle chips are real good. I don't really eat chips at all any more though, or at least very infrequently. Also I can't imagine kettle chips are actually much healthier than regular ones.

Kettle and Oven Baked are alright, but come one. It's like going to McDonalds for a salad. You're not fooling anyone.

Best crisps are tayto.

What if I told you I enjoyed the Kettle Brand Oven Baked Chips?

I like them when they fit into my diet. Also, 420mg of Potassium (12% Daily recommended) to 160mg of Sodium (6%...) is quite a ratio there, so there's that. Low fat. With the low fat and saturated fat, all I really have to worry about with these guys is the carbs, and it's only 20g per bag.

My favorite chips are not made any more "Cape Cod Dark Russet" potato chips. They were as close as you could get to a entire bag of burned chips

@jesus_phish: Is there a difference between what we americans call chips and crisps?

@flashflood_29: So is it like a hybrid? I looked at their site and they don't have a page specifically for their kettle chips, I assume they all have kettle chip qualities?

I used to eat Tim's, they are very good, but got heavy it seems on the Jalapeno seasoning. Maybe it was just that batch. I ocasionally also eat Miss Vickies with a bought sandwich.

These days it is Cape Cod's reduced fat, Kettle brand curry, and Dirty's sea salt. I only eat them with lunch.

Miss Vickie's Salt and Vinegar or the Jalapeno for me. I love the crunch but damn it makes it hard to hear anything when you eat them.

Kettle cooked, 100%.

I don't know if you non-New Englanders have these, but they are the best.

@katpottz: Yeah, they're standard chips are fried batch by batch, like other kettle cooked potato chips. They don't put "Kettle Cooked," on their packaging because one would assume it's obvious. As far as their oven baked chips, they have the quality of their regular kettle chips that is not like other oven baked chips, like the ones you'd find from Lays. I guess I would call it a hybrid from a subjective stand point, not sure about the process of those oven baked chips though.

@katpottz: Things like Doritos would be interchangably called "chips" or "crisps". Crisps are more like Pringles or bags of Walkers (Lays in almost everywhere not the UK or Ireland).

Oven chips are okay. I've recently accepted them as passable chips. If you are trying to tell me that they're better than kettle chips, I question your humanity.
