Just caught a glimpse at the trailer for the new movie "High School" and can say without a doubt that its the last I'll see of it... unless it shows up on netflix and Im bored as shit one night. Lets hope it doesn't get to that. But to me the last great high school movie was Superbad. I think the fact that I was in high school at the time helped of course. Though I think it still holds up today. What's your most recent favorite high school movie or even favorite of all time?

21 Jump Street was amazing.

#4 Posted by LittlemanBodie (118 posts) - 11 months, 22 days ago

@Nightriff: Definitely. Also probably the best of the "Movie" movies.

Superbad is the correct answer you noobs

#6 Posted by Nightriff (2885 posts) - 11 months, 22 days ago

@LittlemanBodie: The only good one beside Scary Movie, that was funny as hell.

Another good High School movie is Faculty, I remember it being pretty entertaining, might be shit now for all I know

Mean Girls was pretty awesome.

It was Superbad. Until 21 Jump Street. Nails the fucking head on current day high school culture.

#13 Posted by BisonHero (3222 posts) - 11 months, 22 days ago

Superbad and Mean Girls.

#14 Posted by ImmortalSaiyan (4186 posts) - 11 months, 22 days ago

While not a full on high school movie; Chronicle is great.

#15 Posted by CH3BURASHKA (3913 posts) - 11 months, 22 days ago

High School Musical 2.

On a tangential note, Persona 4 Animation.

High School High

No love for Heathers? Really??

Of course it'll never get a proper remake: Columbine took all the fun out of "lets kill all the popular kids and jocks for laughs"

easy A was pretty good

Superbad. I thought Project X was lame.

#20 Posted by iam3green (14380 posts) - 11 months, 22 days ago

superbad, not another teen movie are both great.

i never seen 21 jump street.

i have watched superbad a bunch of times. one part of the movie that i love is when seth runs onto the soccer field and evan is in gym class. the gym teacher yells get off the field. seth says jewels is having a party. she said so my brother called my hymen until i was like 13, seth i want to blow you. something a long those lines but still funny.

I'm of the opinion there are no great high school movies, because high school drama is retarded. That being said, I guess I'll go with The Faculty?

I do believe people are allowed to like things I don't like, however.

#24 Posted by LittlemanBodie (118 posts) - 11 months, 21 days ago

@iam3green: haha yeah. That movie has so many quotables.

Yeah, Easy A gets my vote. Watched it the other night for the second time and fell in love with Emma Stone all over again.

21 Jump Street sounds good though.

Yeah, I was gonna say...

@Animasta said:

But this is definitely the last great high school movie. Mind you that's not saying one is better but Easy A did come out more recently. Maybe Emma Stone is just the key to a great high school movie.

Besides some already mentioned movies like "Heathers" or "Dazed and Confused" I would also mention "Rock' n Roll High School"...

#35 Posted by EXTomar (2200 posts) - 11 months, 21 days ago

You know Mean Girls is "surprisingly good" while I would wholly recommend Superbad for a modern "high school movie".

That was totally on last night and I will never be able to tell whether or not I love or hate that movie.

Ferris Beuller is the only John Hughes movie I can stand watching (because who doesn't like that movie?), but everyone I know either hates or loves Breakfast Club.

Election was the last High school movie to come out that I thought was legitimately great.

Ferris Buellers Day Off is probably my favorite one though.

Napoleon Dynamite.....Gosh!!!

Sky high. I love that movie. Oops I meant Chronicle, even though Sky High is still awesome.

Does Brink count?

#44 Posted by LittlemanBodie (118 posts) - 11 months, 21 days ago

@Blackout62: You may be on to something with the whole Emma Stone thing. PUT HER IN ALL OF THEM!

@BabyChooChoo: Brink was the shit haha. Team Pup n Suds!

Mean Girls is more of an undercover cop film gone horribly awry than 21 Jump Street was.

Also Ferris Bueller's Day Off is the only truly good high school film.

#48 Edited by PenguinDust (12099 posts) - 11 months, 21 days ago

I don't know about "great" but Easy A was the last good one I saw.

Some of these other answers go back 20 to 30 years. Have there been no other good high school movies since 1986?

As someone still in a high school, I can confirm this. The whole joke about carrying your backpack with one or two straps had me cracking up.
