You know what I did during RAW tonight? I played Metal Gear Solid. Time much better spent. Every time I did flip it on it was some useless match or segment that added nothing to anything. I'm actually kind of excited to see Punk vs Taker but lets face it the build up will be awful but they could put on a great match.

Raw was meh.

@Demoskinos Is it your first time playing through MGS? I beat the game for the first time about a month ago.

I like the idea of Ryback and Mark Henry having a match at Wrestlemania. I would really like to see PTP and the rest of the tag division not get treated as teams of jobbers. The continual momentum loss for Dolph, Caesaro, and Barrett is baffling. I don't know what to think about Punk vs. Undertaker and I probably won't know until they actually have the match. In the interim, insert Bitch, I'm Fabulous gif here. I think that's all I can really say about this RAW. It was a weird episode. I almost wish I hadn't watched the previous old-school RAW and Smackdown episodes because it gave me higher expectations.

It's official, Team Rhodes Scholars will face The New Age Outlaws on next week's Raw.

#10858 Posted by Demoskinos (9485 posts) - 3 months, 13 days ago

So why did they break up Rhodes Scholars again? They keep tagging even after the break up.

I think it's their gimmick now. "One night only reunion." There was a shirt made for it and everything like the day after they broke up.

I'm not sure who is going to be taking care of WNW this week but rest assured, the King of the WarLoC tournament marches on.

Here is the updated brackets

Tomorrow @jewunit returns to take on the behemoth @Wikitoups. Who will walk away the winner? And, @TJ311 and @TurboMan make there debut in the squared cirlce, but only one of them will move on in the King of the WarLoC tournament.

PLUS Respectful Juggalo will have an in depth interview with @GunslingerPanda about the upcoming #BattleOfTheBears.

@papercut: I believe I'm hosting it... hopefully Synchtube isn't broken all day tomorrow (I can't get on it right now)

Yeah, Synchtube is definitely broken right now. I have something special planned for this week and it may be time sensitive if the internet feds find out what I uploaded.

@turboman: According to their twitter they've been DDOS'd all week, so we might have to find an alternative place for tomorrow.

I guess our Pickle Cast was too hot for SyncTube.

Spoilers from Main Event

Sin Cara beat U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro in a non title match. Sin Cara won with a Frankensteiner. A really good match with some exciting spots. Cesaro's thigh wraps are back. This concluded the Main Event taping.

@krullban: I nearly thought that read that he beat him for the title and I was going to have to be very angry.

HOLD IT!

Why did no one tell me Ivelisse Velez had a TNA Gut Check last week? I now have a reason to tune into TNA. If they don't sign her... god damn it.

  • Fandango was set to face Justin Gabriel, but refused to wrestle when Lilian didn't pronounce his name properly.
  • Backstage, Teddy Long tried to teach Booker T how to pronounce Fandango's name.
  • Big Show vs Sheamus ended in no contest when The Shield attacked both men. Orton made the save and Show, Orton and Sheamus fought off The Shield. Show hit the WMD on Sheamus and Orton hit the RKO on Show to end Smackdown.

Thoughts:

It's like they've said "Fuck It" to all the rumored undercard matches at Mania and are doing something completely different. Also, Team 'Stache still lives!

#10877 Edited by Rabid619 (976 posts) - 3 months, 12 days ago

@DrX25

So basically this week is "Fuck all the champions" week, eh? Wade loses, Cesaro loses, Kaitlyn loses.

Shame, they were getting so close to making the US Title mean something again.

If Synchtube doesn't get come back we can use watch2gether. it doesn't have options or anything fancy, but it has a chat and ability to watch youtube videos. It's not ideal, but way better than using Tinychat.

@drx25:

Raddox on commentary? SOLD!

Also, they better make #TeamStache a thing or someone is getting shanked.

If Synchtube actually works tomorrow, the WNW pre-show will be a Paul Bearer tribute show.

#10886 Posted by joshthebear (2399 posts) - 3 months, 12 days ago

Man, Paul Bearer passing away is brutal. :(

#10887 Posted by zombiesatemycereal (379 posts) - 3 months, 12 days ago

This sucks. Paul Bearer was one of my favorite people in wrestling. RIP

#10888 Posted by Demoskinos (9485 posts) - 3 months, 12 days ago

Man, super bummed out. Thats really shocking. There was no indication that he was sick or anything judging by his twitter feed.

#10889 Posted by TurboMan (5619 posts) - 3 months, 12 days ago

A couple of favorite Paul Bearer clips (outside of all the clips where Bearer was murdered by Taker/Kane which I don't care for watching right now)

Probably the most famous segments of The Undertaker's career (and throughout the early 90's) were during Paul Bearer's Funeral parlor, and of course each of those performances were anchored by Paul Bearer.

I remember I was going to write something about my favorite wrestling weddings, and I think I was going to put this one in the top two alongside Savage/Elizabeth. I love the reveal of the ceremony to be a wedding, and Bearer delivers here.

Also changing the avatar. RIP.

#10890 Posted by Demoskinos (9485 posts) - 3 months, 12 days ago

Since were sharing Paul Bearer moments is there really any more jaw dropping moment than the 1996 Summerslam moment during the boiler room brawl where Paul Bearer turned his back on the Undertaker and aligned with Mankind? As a kid I was absolutely stunned watching that.

Lawler tweeted out this picture:

This picture was taken 10 days ago...we lost a dear friend today..you will be missed by many, Paul Bearer.

#10892 Posted by Rabid619 (976 posts) - 3 months, 12 days ago

Oh man that's sad :( I came in after the era where Paul Bearer was really around a lot, but I still absolutely loved him. Sad day.

RIP

One of the greatest wrestling personalities of all time and just the greatest names of all time too. There has never been a greater manager or pun in the history of this sport.

Interview with Paul Bearer about Punk and Taker.

Why is The Undertaker vs. C.M. Punk occurring at the biggest event of the year at WrestleMania 29 next month? Punk has earned Undertaker's respect, which is a major endorsement in the WWE locker room.

The late Paul Bearer (Bill Moody) captured Taker's respect for Punk in an interview on the PWTorch Livecast in August 2012.

"C.M. Punk is a class act, and he's got it," Bearer exclusively told PWTorch editor Wade Keller. "I didn't meet Punk until I went back for that six-month run (2010-2011). I had watched him on television, of course, but I had never met him in-person before.

"I'll never forget myself, Undertaker, Big Show, and a couple of other guys standing over in the corner just shooting the breeze. C.M. Punk came walking by and Taker says, 'Percy, have you ever met Punk?' I said, 'No, I havent.' Taker called him over there and he's very, very respectful to our business and to me for having never met me before.

"Taker introduced me to him and Taker's exact words to me were: 'Punk - he's one of us.' That was how I was introduced to C.M. Punk by The Undertaker. For him to say that about a talent, that just means everything in the world. And to say, 'He's one of us,' that just meant something to that little group that was there."

@krullban: Wow for taker to have that kind of respect for punk.

Is Paul Bearer in the the Hall of Fame yet? Can we just agree that this man needs to be in as soon as possible if not?
