Yesterday while on my way to work the shoe laces I haven't re-tied for an unreasonable amount of time broke. I looked down on my several years old Goodyear Adidas and realized that while I could just buy new laces, it really was time to retire these shoes. I've always like Adidas because of how well they fit my feet, but also because they're probably some of the best quality sneakers I've ever worn. When people who are into cheap alternatives ask me why I buy something that cost more money, I always tell them it's an investment. More so than any other piece of clothing. Because the amount of time Adidas lasts for me without breaking makes them actually pretty cheap. Granted, they don't always look brand new at some point but that's when they're the most comfortable.

Thusly I've commenced on a hunt for new sneakers which will probably end up being Adidas but certainly open to other brands if they're good looking I suppose.

So how about you?

What's your brand of choice?

Ever buy any extravagantly expensive sneakers?

And how long do you usually wear sneakers before you upgrade to a new pair?

Discuss!

I only realized recently that I've always worn Nike's because that's what I was provided with when I was younger and had never really questioned it. I'm still in the process of trying to find something with the right balance of difference and similarity to try...

A friend of mine says that you dont save on shoes or beds. I tend to follow that, but I dont spend money on brand or fashion, I try to find the most comfortable and sturdy pair of shoes I can and use it until it falls apart.

@jetsetwillie: We have a word in Swedish that is closer to trainers than sneakers, but I tend to be obnoxious and use the word sneakers here as well. As the Swedish word personally implies more gym/jogging oriented shoes and not street wear sneakers.

@Centimani: Why not go your entire life in Nike? Might acquire sponsorship at some point for loyalty.

@Winternet: Come on, Snickers? That's the candy bar you pick up when you want candy and food and you don't happen to have money for both so you rationalize it as Snickers being sort of food by having peanuts. Only to realize you didn't eat food and settled for a sub-par candy bar.

@Rokkaku: So what's adult shoes?

@Azteck: I realized when Converse was getting popular again some years ago that I used to wear them as a kid. Also, very specific set of people can wear Converse and not look like tools.

@jetsetwillie: What?! That's probably the worst new candy bar. I'd rather eat a ton of kinder eggs.

@Rattle618: That's wise words. Personally, I go by brand if it's worked well before and I feel there is quality to the brand. I would probably rate looks and comfort about the same, they're equally important.

I loved my Adidas Gazelles back in the day, but the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn was my Bathing Ape shoes.

They are way overpriced, but I used to make decent money, so it didn't hurt as bad then either.

I own about 8 pairs, however i buy almost all of my shoes on clearance from CSS. I never spend more than about 40-50 bucks USD on em and never toss em out. I like having variety, but i have my usual pair and then my others.

Brand wise Adio, Converse, Emerica and Fallen. Pretty much open to any brand CSS sells as long as its my style.

I have no brand loyalties. I buy whatever looks nice and feels comfortable. Currently, I have a pair of sneakers by Fila, K-Swiss, Perry Ellis America (x2), US Polo Association, Reebok, And 1, I.Travel, Lugz, Nike, and New Balance. I usually only buy from discount department store, so I usually only pay $20-30 for a pair. I don't think I've ever spent more than $60 on a pair. I'm more limited by size than anything, because those kind of stores don't carry many 12-13 size (US) shoes. I don't think I've replaced a pair since my feet stopped growing years ago, but my white K-Swiss pair is pretty dirty now.

♪My Adidas

walk through concert doors

and roam all over coliseum floors

I stepped on stage, at Live Aid

All the people gave an applause that paid

And out of speakers I did speak

I wore my sneakers but I'm not a sneak

My Adidas cuts the sand of a foreign land

with mic in hand I cold took command

my Adidas and me both askin P

we make a good team my Adidas and me

we get around together, rhyme forever

and we won't be mad when worn in bad weather

My Adidas..

My Adidas..

My Adidas♪

I like Nikes. All I need is a black and I'm set. The pair that I recently purchased aren't expensive and they go with everything in my wardrobe.

Adidas Marathon 10. They are the most comfortable, lightest-weight, all-around excellent shoe I've ever owned. Your sole lies close to the ground and you can glide in these babies. The picture on the left is the design I've been rocking for well over a year with plenty of miles on them.
