2012 will go down as the year where changes were made in the consumer electronics business. I was interested to hear what fellow duders and gamers thought about the big efforts of the big 4 tech companies. Does this holiday make you care about tablets, are you already bought into a tablet that doesn't need replacing. Will nokia push you to try out a new ecosystem (or upgrade your existing windows phone)? Are you still holding out for next's year's Surface pro or new iPad?

Tie between Nexus 4 and 10. I'm overdue for a new phone and i really want a tablet. On to of that, I abso-fucking-lutely love Android so there's that too.

Nexus 4 looks amazing, with the front glass that looks like it was melted atop the phone. I do like the Nexus 10 too, but I don't see a need to upgrade from my nexus 7 at the moment.

The Kindle Fire. I have no real use for an iPad, but I love my Kindle and I'd like to see what the Fire has to offer. Plus, backlighting so I could read at night would be a cool deal.

This exactly.

I don't think the Surface will change the game, but it seems to be the only thing not simply going along with it.

I don't think it will, right now anyway, the app support is lacking. As for the Surface pro, which is pretty much a laptop in tablet form, that will seriously make waves because it's already supported by legacy software.

My Focus finally gave in three months ago and I've been waiting for the 920 (holding off with a 10 buck flip-phone), so I'd say that. Not really planning on buying anything else. I am curious to see how the Surface Pro turns out, but I'm not spending that much for a tablet

A new Phone, The Lumia 920 is pretty much the one for me. I dont know how much i goes for unlocked but probably $600. Was going to get a Surface but looks very disapointing, a Sliced Down Version Of Windows 8. might go For A Asus Vio Tab.

I guess the iPhone 5, as that's the only thing tech related I ended up buying this year

I just got my S3 last week, so that, I put a stock Android ROM on it and love it. Didn't want the Nexus 4 because the rumours said it won't have a microSD slot; and they were right.

Still don't think it's a good idea to buy Windows phones, the app ecosystem is woefully lacking.

I think for tablets you have two choices: iPad (Mini or full sized) or the Nexus 7 / Kindle Fire HD (the smaller one) because larger sized Android tablets kind of suck, there's not enough tablet apps. The smaller Android tablets get away with it (kinda) because blown-up phone applications don't look as bad on 7" displays, on full sized ones though they are a bad experience. I love Android on phones, it blows iOS away at this point but on tablet it's hard to ignore how bad the Android app situation actually is - unless all you do is browse with Chrome and watch video.

I will be getting a Nexus 4 now I just need to decide whether to get the 7 or 10. Right now I am thinking the 7

I want a Nexus 10. Now.

The Surface, because it seems like the least known quantity out of the lot of them. If it is successful (which I honestly don't think will happen) then it could shake up a whole lot.

But I'm not a tech guy, so it's a free-for-all to me.
