What is the point of this topic?

The point of this topic is not solely to simply post "What you are listening to", but however, discuss things that are relevant to music, and the music scene. Talk about your favorite bands, music videos, and everything under that category. The idea is to have a good discussion about music, while you can also post what you are listeningto, but that should not be the main point of your post.

Why can't I just post what I'm listening to?

Simply posting what you are listening to isn't actually discussion, and can be simplified as "+1" to your post count. Don't lie, you aren't always listening to what you post, I have done it as well. There really isn't any discussion in what you are talking about.

How should I go about making a post?

You should make a post about whatever you think would be good discussing about music (news, videos, etc), and if you want, again, you can post what you are listening to.

Example: "Does anybody else think Radiohead never makes a bad song? I think they are simply awesome. Oh, and, I'm listening to "Videotape" by Thom Yorke, simply a beautiful song. What a message it has attached to it."

There is an example, and you can actually make a discussion about what you are listening to!

Time for the first and most obvious question: Who is your favorite artist or band?

I have actually heard a little of them, I believe it was on Need for Speed Underground on the PS2, they weren't that bad. Weren't my cup of tea, though.

I think the real question is "Who doesn't love them?"

My favourite band of course is Radiohead.

I'm not a big fan of GNR, however, I do like one of their biggest songs "Welcome to the Jungle." Good song to get yourself pumped up, most definitely. Also nice to play in Guitar Hero 3.

Yeah they were in that with a song called To Hell We Ride, but for some reason they just titled the song Ride. Their song Last Train Home has also been featured in NFL Street. They have been awarded best British Band twice by Kerrang now and there new album should be out by the end of the year. JTLYK

Ehh... i could try to make a list of my favorite songs by them, but it'll take four pages >_>.

Anyway i'll make a recommendation, the band is called Hanoi Rocks, they're from Finland i believe. They play glam punk and were a big influence on Axl Rose. This is the video of my favorite song, Tragedy:

Really into the Foo Fighters at the moment, probably would say DOA or Learn To Fly is my most favourite song by them. Dave Grohl is just awesome and seeing the band live was definately a memorable moment for me.

I have not heard many of their songs, but I'm always up for listening to some more, I will give them a try. Also listening to "Jigsaws Falling into Place" by Radiohead, off their 8/28 webcast, probably one of the best concerts I have never been to. >_>

If any of you guys love Radiohead and have not heard this webcast, you need to.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I do like a lot of their songs, but I don't like them as much as other people. They are technically impressive however. Plus they are in my favorite episode of South Park. Scott Tennerman LOL.

For me Radiohead was something I had to get into. In the beginning I was just like you guys but eventually it just grew on me and it finally clicked, now I love them.

I have been listening to them as well lately. In your opinion which do you think is better. The regular or acoustic version of Everlong. A lot of people like the acoustic more, but i'm split.

I don't listen too much hip-hop so I don't really know many artists.
Benefit, Atmosphere, Mos Def, Bahamadia, Pharoah Monch, Moses Mayse, Mr. Lif, Murs, 9th Wonder
I could go on for a while, but I'm sure you wouldn't want that.

Same here, i tried them, beautiful lyrics, but a little too "soft" in my opinion. Karma Police was great

Yup! No problem. If I were you though, I'd take this order:
1. Atmosphere
2. Mos Def
3. Moses Mayse
4. Benefit
5. Murs
6. Mr. Lif
7. 9th Wonder
8. Bahamadia

Just ranking in terms of how casual/laid back I find them to be. Atmosphere's lyrics are very easy to relate to.

Great job with this thread, Karmum. It'll be good to get some music discussion going.

My favourite band is The Who, by a long way. My favourite song by them is Love, Reign O'er Me, and I'm going to take this opportunity to recommend it to everyone.

Black_Rose, I loved the acoustic version of November Rain! In general I love acoustic versions of songs: one of my favourite bands is The Fratellis, and I have a lot of great acoustic versions of their songs.

Right now I'm listening to Kings of Leon: all three albums in chronological order. I do that a lot with bands, as I find it great to see how their sound evolves over their career. Can't wait for Only By the Night!

My favorite band is Pink Floyd, followed by Radiohead. I never really understood the huge hype surrounding these bands before I actually started buying their albums. Now I'm hooked... I still tool on people who wear Dark Side of the Moon shirts to look cool though.

Oh, I love many of them. I like suffragate city, changes, ziggy stardust, space oddity... I think one of my favorite things about bowie is how varied his music is. He covers so many genres across one album that you never get bored.

No, I'm not trolling. That's my honest opinion. I find that Uematsu can orchestrate a wider variety of instruments.
