There is some awesome music out there, but most listen to those from their country and (possibly other) anglophone countries. This means some awesome stuff gets overlooked! Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you should listen to it, right? Anyway, with hope the mods won't label this as youtube spam (as i genuinely beleive that it isn't spam), post music from your country :). I'll get the ball rolling

Maple syrup is my thing.

Edit: MORE:

Saw these guys at my university bar last year. They blew it away.

Still waiting on that 4th Billy Talent album

Probably the best pop music to come out of Canada ever, and if I ever meet her, well...I take her out for a nice meal and some Timbits.

One more, mostly everyone won't need a description of deadmau5, haters gonna hate, I like him, and bonous Lights. Sorry for the shit quality the offical video of the Juno award performance(Canadian music awards) got blocked in canada. wat

Proud to be a Geordie! (fuck this whore)

#6 Posted by Papa_XIV (149 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago

@ATrevelan: That's kinda... ridiculous :P. Just kidding, i like it. Where are you from?

@ckeats: Good stuff :)! I'm more into male syrup if you know what i'm saying... JOKE ;D!

@Thrillhouse87: I might start learning Norwegian :)

#7 Posted by ATrevelan (602 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago

@Papa_XIV: I'm from the US, but I've somehow ended up in Kazakhstan. Kids in my school take a 20 minute dance break at noon every day and that song (or some variation thereof) is often included. Then it's followed by Maroon 5 or Lady Gaga, which makes for a rather jarring transition.

I expected that last band to suck (as the only music from Norway that I listen to is either black metal or electronic music), but they were actually pretty good. Like a proto-Gogol Bordello.

Anyway, I'm from America, so I'm not going to bother to try to figure out what the best music from this country is. I'd be here all day.

Norway has some realy good music. At least quality metal.

#11 Posted by Klei (1409 posts) - 1 year, 1 month ago

She speaks french though, watch out. Not really my kind, but its popular among hipsters here in Canada/Quebec.

From the good ol' land of Eire. I suppose this band is the only traditional Irish one suitable for foreign ears...

Was going to post a different song, but these are the only ones with decent quality.

I won't torture any of you with Nickelback.

Well, I'm from England and I don't have that much time right now. :P

EDIT: I've always strived to listen to music from across the globe, so nice to see some of these other posts.

These guys are from Charlotte, a city near where I live. I figured since I'm in America and our stuff makes it almost everywhere, I'd better post something relatively unknown from nearby.

This is also the band that I busted my car's stereo to :)

Black Spiders - England

In my opinion these guys are by far the most promising band coming out of the England right now. Their debut album Sons of the North is so mind blowing, I really hope that they can follow it up. They are also amazing live, at a music festival last year they were headlining the smallest stage and still managed to attract a massive crowd.

I'm only posting this because I'm an asshole:

Pride of Denmark... well... not really... But I'm gonna make up for being an asshole with this other danish band:

Fuck. Had a friend who would blast this at full volume out of his car while driving through the streets of Belfast. I know it's not the 90s anymore, but fuck it made me uncomfortable.

Well, I'm from the US, so... too much.

Utah, however, is a different story. Here's the most notable music to ever come out of Utah:

They won a Grammy for a version of this song a long time ago.

I don't understand how Nickelback went from an ultra popular band, to a band that everyone hates

It's the fact that all the songs they sing are the same song now.
