Nope. In fact, I'm the only one in my family who plays video games at all anymore. My older brother used to be way into them but he's not interested anymore.
My dad plays more video games than your dad!!
My dad have always been into First Person Shooters and RTS's, he used to play other stuff too but these days it's mostly just that I think. Not really sure, haven't talked to him in a while.
My dad used to play some old school stuff. He used to play Tetris a lot and still has it on his PC... Back when me and my brothers were really little he used to play the Spectrum with us. Infact it'd be mainly him in control. :p He had a go on Guitar Hero most recently, but generally doesn't really play any.
My Dad, wherever he may be now since my parents got divorced, played (or plays I don't know) a lot of vidya-games. My Mom did aswell (not sure if a lot) I think, she knows about some things. I have a SNES, N64, and Gameboys (three of which are dead now and one I lost) because of them.
My dad didn't grow up in the western world, in a different time period, video games are foreign to him.
My dad plays drums on Guitar Hero almost every day, and he likes to watch me play stuff like Uncharted and RDR.
A couple of times I tried to get my dad to play a racing game (once one the PS1 and once on the Xbox) and he just couldn't quite get around the controls. Too many buttons on the controller and couldn't really get a grasp of dual analogs. The last actual gaming he did was Pong and Asteroids.
While my dad might not play video games he has been pretty awesome as far as being accepting about all of it and being really supportive. Most people in my family think I'm entirely ridiculous for gaming, so that's been really nice for me.
@natetodamax: My dad is big on JRPGs....he's played and beaten a TON of JRPGs from series such as Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Shadow Hearts, and many more.Wow, that's awesome!
@Enigma777 said:I'm pretty sure Call of Duty is a video game!If fucking Call of Duty counts then sure.Does Solitare count?
My dad never plays any Video games, though I remember playing alot of Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 with my Grandmother.
My dad has always been a staunch hater of video games. But he and my step-mom got a Wii a couple of years ago and they bring it with them to bowl at family get togethers. He gets pissed cause my nephew and I play it sitting down on the couch and kick his ass by flicking our wrists, and he stands there and gets in position and gets the "ball" ready with his hands and preps and then does this full bowling release like he's on the pro circuit. He doesn't understand that it's kind of a piece of junk (I don't hate the Wii, but as far as pure tech, it's a piece of junk). But it's still kind of cool to play a sort-of video game with such an avid hater. It really is a testament to what the Wii accomplished, like the system or not.
My dad played a lot of Ghost Recon before he stopped. He also plays a lot of tennis and golf games, some
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't DOTA a custom scenario for a game that was released in 2002? You were a baby in 2002? Wuuuut.
My dad can't even figure out how to hold a ps3 controller using his index finger for R1 and R2. I don't doubt your dad plays more videogame than mine.
My mom used to take over my PS1 and play Spyro sometimes. She also screened a bunch of the more mature games I wanted to play before letting me at them (such as the Final Fantasy games...you have to realize I was 8 at the time).
My dad used to be the best there was at Donkey Kong, Pacman, and Space Invaders (at least in the bars he frequented in the 80s). He played Diddy Kong Racing a lot in the 90s.
Does Solitare count?
Yeah this.
My uncle is a big strategy gamer though, got hooked on AoE and now he's playing Starcraft II and Shogun 2.
My dad was way into games, I remember standing in the arcade watching him play Galaga- he taught me about the double-ship trick when I was like 4 years old. I remember going to the video store and renting NES games with him (that weird period where you could rent both NES and SNES games)... unfortunately, he died when I was 7, and the arcade was turned into a Barns & Nobel.
