Yeah, my first gig is in about an hour, and my god am I terrified :(

Gonna be about 300+ people there.

EDIT: Apparently people want to know what it is. It is music, and it is hard rock/metal. and I play guitar.

300+ people at your first gig? How'd you manage that?

#10 Posted by Druminator (1808 posts) -

Dude you shouldn't worry especially if it's your first gig. Everyone pretty much expects a first gig to have a few slip ups but it's okay because that's how you progress and get better. You have to constantly tell yourself "I'm in a band on stage with a ton of people watching me, that's more then they can say." No matter how good or bad you do, everyone wishes they were the ones on stage. They're watching you, so give them hell. Once you get comfortable enough, playing shows is the best feeling in the world.

Bert and Ernie will warm you up for da headbanging.

#15 Posted by innacces14 (742 posts) -

Best of luck.

Remember. If the crowd goes crazy a guitar makes a pretty swell bat. =]

#16 Posted by Jesus (1190 posts) -

make sure you headbang. But don't do it to much. Or you will get whiplash.

Good Luck. :]

Get drunk and don't think about it before you go on stage. It helps with the nerves. Also, good luck.

#19 Posted by iam3green (14368 posts) -

Whatever you do, don't dress like a douche bag. NO ONE likes guitarists that dress like douche bags because guitarists can be replaced.

Picture yourself naked? I hear this works.

Haha if your just playing rhythm, just strum!

Oh my god, that noise from the bert and ernie thing! its so terrible XD

Cool beans.

#33 Posted by guiseppe (2843 posts) -

It would be easy to say  "don't worry", but I know that it's damned near imposseble not to. Still, trust me when I say that the instant you go on the stage and start playing, much of it disappears. At least in my experience :P. Best of luck to you, and rock ooooouuun!

#34 Posted by Equal_Opportunity_Destroyer497 (578 posts) -

I hope all goes well. Having a crowd go apeshit for your band is one of the coolest feelings one can have.

#44 Edited by CL60 (17120 posts) -

I'm back!, we did pretty good I guess! I screwed up a few times but it was all good, don't think anybody noticed :P

It was nerve-wracking I gotta say.. but it was not as bad as i expected though. But I've got another one Friday at the same place :) Hopefully that one goes good too.

#45 Posted by JoelTGM (5783 posts) -

ha nice job.  Always funny to see someone post something like this, totally terrified and anxious, and then they post again later and it's all good lol.

#46 Posted by Scooper (7920 posts) -
@CL60: Nice 1 mate. Happy you did well.
#47 Posted by buzz_clik (7287 posts) -

As long as you know the songs, you'll be fine.

P.S. Don't forget the songs!

Oh, wait, you'll be in the middle of it right now. I'm sure you're going fine. It's never as bad as you think it is when you're up there. Once it starts and you ease into it, you'll be shirty that you have to stop, no doubt. Rawk.

#48 Posted by MetalGearSunny (7465 posts) -
@CL60: Glad you feel good about it!
#49 Edited by CL60 (17120 posts) -
