My first S rank, and an overwhelming sense of disappointment

Well I got my first S rank - the steam version of Deathspank. Was it worth it - not really. This game gets tedious fast, and after 3 hours of it, I was merely looking to finish the game for the sake of finishing, rather than to complete it to see where the plot was going. I must admit that the humour was initially great - but after your umpteenth fetch quest, the whole poking fun at the rpg genre thing was getting ridiculous. Collecting 50 tin cans, the quest with the talking tree wanting a variety of spurious items. Perhaps I didn't get the laughs, or perhaps it was a thinly veiled attempt at hiding what was some otherwise lacklustre gameplay. I will not be getting the sequel....especially considering ranged combat was particularly lacking.
That said - damm easy S rank. Got it in 7 hours

That's what I though when I played the game.

The game got really grating fast. The humour is awesome, still the gameplay feels not that polished and refined.

I think my first S-rank when I bought my 360 was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

I feel sorta bad for you that your S-rank cherry was popped by Deathspank.

My first S-rank was CSI: Deadly Intent, so don't feel so bad.

And this is why achievements should be optional.

Can't you just ignore them if they don't interest you?

My first was Cloning Clyde on the 360, that was a pretty fun game.

I haven't found too many of the ones I s-ranked to be tedious, other than Assassin's Creed. Oh, and the "play for 50 hours" achievement on Viva Pinata, specifically.

First S-rank was Mass Effect. Still haven't tried to reclaim it after that dreadful last DLC.

My first was Resident Evil 5, but that was stripped from me when the DLC started coming out. Haven't bothered trying to get it back.

I've since S-ranked Dead Rising 2: Case Zero and, oh shame of shames, Avatar: The Last Airbender -  The Burning Earth.

I've been 5 points away from S-ranking Assassin's Creed 2 for a year now. I just need to kick a guard while using the flying machine. One of these days...

My first and only S-rank was Costume Quest, easy peasy. Reclaimed it with the DLC kind of by surprise, I assumed there were more achievements and then bam I was done.

I like achievements, but I don't have any delusions about S-Ranking most of them. All I want is for Microsoft to let me manage my achievements so I can get rid of all of the games I played for fifteen minutes and got the dinky little 5 pt achievements :( They're messing up my GB average and it's annoying haha

I don't have S-Ranks. I play PS3 exclusively.

Disappointment.

I'm fairly close to getting a few platinums, though. I'm at 71% in MW2 (just have to do all the Spec Ops stuff), 76% in MUA 2, and 72% in DA:O.

Man, I wish I remember what my first S-rank was... maybe Phantasy Star Universe? That's gone now because of the DLC though. I'mma go with Ninety Nine Nights as the first one. Its the last game in my list of completes anyway...

First platinum trophy I got was Batman: Arkham Asylum, and that was a tough one.

Forza Motorsport 2 was my first, shortly followed by Lost Odyssey, then SoulCalibur 4, Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy XIII and finally Forza Motorsport 3.

Really messy. And I don't even own a 360 anymore. FM3 was an affront to a once great series. Can't wait to see how Forza 4 either improves it (back to the FM1 standard) or screws it (going down the track of FM3). GT5 now, 24% done IIRC.
