FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So anyhow, yeah 3 1/2 year old busted my Plasma TV beyond repair. I am going to get a new one but I obviously don't want this to happen again. When I purchased the TV I got a shelf mount and it was expensive enough.. 500 bucks approx. Now I was thinking the option of wall mounting the television to my wall but that still doesn't prevent a ball or something to make it's way up there or something. I was looking into TV protectors such as those offered from this website http://www.tv-armor.com/ but it looks like they do not ship to Canada. Has anyone purchased some sort or protector for their television? If so do you like it? Does it lower the quality of the television viewing? Glare? Also, is there somewhere in Canada that sell this stuff?
My son broke my 60inch TV
Unlucky mate, I actualy just bought a new 50" plasma for myself the other day (been using a 32" for years) I can't wait for it to arrive so I can see how awesome it makes my games look and feel now. Even a 50" costs a shit-ton of money so I can kind of imagine how pissed you are at needing to buy a brand new 60" xD
All great ideas. So I found out that tv-armor.com does ship to Canada. Horray! Now the only thing I wonder is if anyone has tried type of product out yet and if they are satisfied with it?sounds like you are going to have to write a review on it, and post it here.
that sucks that he broke your tv.
I have insurance but their is a 1000 dollar deductible. I paid $1499 for the TV and with the 1000$ deductible plus losing the 3 years of 25% claim free it would end up costing me like 2000ish dollars. Insurance is rarely a solution. More of a oh shit I lost everything in my life they "might" help me out. lol
Perhaps this question would be better answered by the folks at tested.com? I found that when I was building a computer and needed some advice, the community was extremely helpful, maybe they could help you out here. Also, (insert joke about child cruelty here)!
@Dooops: I have a 3 year old boy (and I mean a BOY). I'm very happy I decided to hang my 55 well out of his reach.
Granted it doesn't save the TV from a potential ball or toy train strike, but it does save it from his standard daily insanity.
I've heard that projectors can be really expensive. You have to get the projector plus really expensive replacement bulbs, and then worry about getting a proper screen on top of that, then you need to worry about lighting. It's just a mess, I really think you should just go with another TV.
As a very quick piece of advice, OP, have you ever considered buying a TV cabinet instead of hanging it on the wall? That way, when it's not being used, it can be nice and shut where no little whippersnappers can hit it with anything.
Just a thought, though it would probably cost a good bit in addition to your brand new 60" TV. I'm a bit jealous of that.
Another quick thought: Buy an LEDLCD TV if you can. That's what mine is and it is gorgeous.

When I was like....12 my parents had a cabinet with a T.v. in it. One day, while I was playing it fell out for no reason. I'm not even kidding. Just plopped screen first on the floor. I just sat there and stared, was like.."What just happened? Ah well, G.I. Joes."

Sounds more like misuse of the cabinet by its owners than a problem with TV cabinets in general.
I'm not really a fan of TV cabinets - I would much rather have my expensive TV and shiny game systems on display for all to see - but if children were present I would want to keep that stuff locked down tight.
Give the broken TV to your son. That way, if he ever asks for a TV, you can say "hey, I gave you my best one. You broke it."
You could restrict his access to the room you put the TV in.
That might be the best way of assuring your TV is never brutally murdered with a blunt object ever again.
After you get a new TV you make one simple rule: "no toys near the TV, also don't play ball inside the house".. I know, it seems way too simple but it does work
You can't get better insurance than that? Wall hung I guess..I liked the cabinet idea but a 60 inch is huge..and I would look at a projector twice despite the experience one guy had. But projector does sound like a pain. Also no throwing toys in the tv room, take away the oportunities, and maybe even try to have a barriar/off limits around the area beneath the tv.
My son scribbled all over my monitor last week and i can't get the pencil off for the life of me. He must have pressed really hard and scratched it in. If only I could afford a new one! Fortunately, I have a friend who's lending me an older one. Still, thanks for your helpful perspective: at least he didn't bust my TV! Yikes. Good luck with that.
Tell him you're taking him to Disneyland. His excitement will wear off when the orphanage heavily sedates him.
